God has given me a great gift, and now I must press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling in God through Jesus Christ Our Lord” Says Playwright Gloria Terry who has actively pressed her way in the performing arts for over half her natural life.Her Journey began some 14 years ago when she wrote, directed, and produced her first stage play at Lake Shore Catholic Academy; the junior high school she attended.Later, Gloria attended Carmel high school where she continued to write plays for the next few years, producing many of them for her church congregation. In 1996, Gloria graduated from Carmel and enrolled into Columbia College where she majored in business administration.Gloria excelled at Columbia, but she always felt as if something was missing. She began seeking God for the answer, asking him to reveal his true purpose for her life. Shortly after, God spoke to her spirit, as he instructed her to stay focused on the performing arts.Gloria followed Gods instructions and on December 15, 2003 she established Soul Live Productions, a theatre organization located in Lake County Illinois.Since then, dozens of plays have been written, directed, and produced under the direction of this passionate playwright. Most memorable performances include "Who’s Jane Peters? The 1960’s drama that depicts the life of a young women who struggled to overcome racism in the segregated south. “Left Alone” a play that focuses on the significance of forgiveness, and "Silent Waters" a play that tells the story of a family struggling to hold together in the face of the Katrina disaster. Other accomplishments for this playwright include the establishment of The Actors Workshop, a program designed to teach young adults the art and craft of theatre. She has also received accreditations from the Waukegan News Sun as Lake Counties most promising playwright.The journey for Gloria has been long but rewarding but she is standing firm on Gods promises, knowing that to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. For without faith it is impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.“This is my season” says playwright Terry.
