Run Amok! make your city smile

About Me

We are Burn The Mona Lisa from Bolton, England. We are rockers who make pop music with zest and imagination, guitars, electic music tastes, and anything else we can play or steal.Work began at home with 18 months of writing and recording, then 2007 saw John Palowski joining on bass, Tom Evans on drums and Mark Night on guitars and we took to the stage.
RUN AMOK - REVIEW BY Saur @ THE-MAG.ME.UK (20/02/2008)
Burn The Mona Lisa have taken pop by force and are holding it against its will. With this in mind, the potentially anarchic sound of a band that plots to mis-use pop in such a way, actually sounds rather good.
’Run Amok’ has a risky feel that keeps it on the brink of trashy lo-fi, threatening to rip up the bedroom-studio any second, but the well constructed hooks and interwoven samples add heaps to a song that commands a fantastic bounce.
There’s something Morrissey-esque about ’Nursery Rhymes’; that downbeat element in the voice and lyrics. It doesn’t hit the realms of downtrodden though and just before the chorus, guitars are added that supply a Feeder tone to the song.
’Insatiable’ follows an excellently worded intro with an indie-stormer and ’Falter’ adds some emotional piano to the end of the record.
Burn The Mona Lisa are a band that have finally nailed the elusive balance of experimental, playful and ultimately listenable anti-pop.
