Deedub was born David Woods in Riverside Hospital in 1983. Birthed by a mother who would later instill the values of the 60’s and 70’s movements, Deedub would soon learn the value of peace and love. His father was then as he is now, a hustler. Watching his father struggle and stress to start several businesses Deedub learned the hustler’s code. He was taught the value of family, loyalty, hard work, street smarts, and being your own boss. These values were evident in Deedub’s earliest raps written between classes while attending Temecula Valley High School, a place he viewed as a part-time jail.
After finishing high school, Deedub knew he had to move to where the music scene thrives in order to pursue his dream. He moved to the LBC shortly before his 18th birthday. Understanding the value of education he decide to attended California State University Long Beach where he linked up with fellow rapper Double A. The duo bonded through musical chemistry while performing freestyle sessions for fellow dorm residents. This lead to the formation of their group called the PBC (point blank click) in 2001. Deedub and Double A would both graduate with the highest honors possible and degrees in Geology and Political Science, respectively. Deedub often laughs saying, “I got the highest honors all while being the highest student.†After graduation Double A took the opportunity presented to him to attend Harvard Law School where he is currently finishing up. Deedub has remained focused on making a career out of music.
Today the group is lead by Deedub while Double A maintains a faceless supporting role. Although Deedub could be considered a solo artist, he still makes music with Double A when possible and represents the PBC as a collective. Since its inception the PBC has grown with many new members taking up supporting roles in disciplines ranging from the streets to the boardroom.
The PBC is founded on making true to life music written from experience while shunning fiction. The group prides itself on making fun music but also accepts a responsibility to lace their lyrics with words that will inspire thought and enlightenment. Above all the music represents the lifestyle of the modern educated hustler in the LBC as well as anywhere in California. The PBC is here to represent Cali without waving red or blue rags for the media’s attention, as many rappers do who never lived that lifestyle. Deedub is focused on presenting the PBC’s trends to the world with hopes of improving people’s quality of life and love.
