..ABOUT BILLY MICHAELS; BILLY IS A VERY NICE MAN to know, and be around. He is charming, affable, extremely generous, and very funny, and will talk for ever on any subject as long as it's not him. He is very 'learned' about life in general, and a GREAT PERSON to talk to about it.He has had many an ACCOLADE bestowed upon him by â€˜STARâ€™ names in the past, and RECORDING SUCCESS etc but for reasons known only to himself does not really publicise it. On the whole Billy tends to be a pretty 'private' person. I know that he has met, played alongside, and is friends with, some of the 'TOP' in the business, but, he still is somewhat quiet about it. HIS SUCCESSES on EMI, PYE and PAGE ONE RECORDS are still around, (not Billy Michaels) under his 'old' name.Billy did ENJOY that SUCCESS and acknowledges the fact, but says it should stay where it belongs, in the past. RIGHT NOW is the important thing to concentrate on. He left the 'pop' music business in the 1980s. He said to me, (quote)" I AM BACK DOING WHAT I LIKE THE MOST. SO I WILL GIVE IT MY BEST SHOT"BILLY works with various jazz combos and upwards to Bands, also as a solo using specially arranged and engineered 'tracks'.PRIVATE FUNCTIONS, CORPORATES and SPECIALS (which are by invitation only) take up most of his time. Billy will soon be seen at 'other' types of venues, because HIS REPUTATION HAS GROWN so much that his performances are now in GREAT DEMAND in these areas.Apart from being WITHOUT A DOUBT, one of the BEST SINGERS around in his field BAR NONE, has it been mentioned that BILLY is also a TALENTED ACTOR. My first real 'Pop' Idols were Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Charles. Then Stevie Wonder, a truly great singer!Bobby Darin had the BIGGEST INFLUENCE on me in the changing of my 'style'. HE HEARD ME SING, THEN, WE HAD A LONG CONVERSATION. That was really the 'turning' point, and from there I began listening to his recordings. Later came A MEETING WITH Johnny Mathis , and HE BECAME AN INFLUENCE. I also listened to Eddie Fisher and Vic Damone and the musicianship of Mulligan, Stan Getz and Dave Brubeck; these all started me on a different path.Tony Bennett, Matt Monro, Jimmy Scott, Frank Sinatra, Nat Cole, Perry Como and more all helped with the 'NEW STYLE'. Todays's young singers such as Buble and Cullum are still keeping me working to improve. In the past, and quite recently, I have worked with a number of brilliant musicians and singers who have helped me enormously.My respect for musicians and fellow singers is very large and they continue to be a real source of inspiration for me in my craft. I will always welcome their help. I would like to commend here the great help I have received from a very talented sound engineer by the name of BEN BLEASE, who along with some excellent music men have put together my new CD which is a Tribute to the work of some of the great singers, song writers, musicians and arrangers, some I have known, and some I would like to know.Despite all the influence I hope I have still emerged with a 'sound' that is MINE!

This Comment is not for Billy but the people who visit here.... My Friend Billy is a wonderful man who I admire. When I was looking for music for Smile4Rich some singers refused, some asked for payment. Smile4Rich is a charity, dependant on kindness, Billy showed that kindness not only did he say 'YES' to my request but he said he was proud to be asked. Billy I thank you.
