DIGO started over a year ago with a view to bring something new to the alternative music scene. Rush (producer/technical genius!) had a previous career as a radio DJ and dance/drum and bass producer, and wanted to merge different styles together to come up with something new and exciting.
Matt brought his unique blend of old and new guitar styles to the mix, along with his uncanny resemblance to a wild eyed pepperami - yes he is a bit of an animal - citing influences from Nick Drake and The Stranglers to Tom Morello and Megadeth. The two formed part of a previous line-up with some other dudes, but we won’t go into that now…. Since the split of said former band, Rush and Matt had been working flat out on new material.
After a year of looking for the right singer, in May 2006 they finally found Maia, who set about adding some sweetness to their dirty sounds. All that was missing was a bassist, and in December 2006 they were joined by Steve. With an extensive background of sound production and engineering, and an unflappable ability to make anything sound groovy, he was the perfect final piece to the puzzle.
Since the beginning of this year, DIGO have been concentrating on getting ready to gig, and coming up with some new tunes along the way. They will be appearing live in a club/pub near you very soon… with a great mix of musicians like this, under the yoke of the genial general Rush we can only say... watch this space!
You may have noticed our rather groovy main pic, it was created by our good friend Andy Meanock of Bangonportraits, (www.bangonportraits.co.uk)
