About Me

The Nate LaPointe Band is comprised of players from a strong jazz background, with rootsy and eclectic songwriting and improvisation as its basis. The unique writing collaboration of Nate LaPointe and Tim Campbell creates lyrics from the heart and songs that speak to many. From introspective ballads like "I'll Put You First" to quirky fun-loving tunes like "Sagittarius" to bring-down-the-house rockers like "Here I Come Again" the band will keep you on your toes with it's diverse array of sounds.
NLB has developed a unique sound of their own combining the elements of jazz (Ivan Johnson on acoustic upright bass), blues (David Johnson ..s and harmonica), Brazilian and funk (Chris Payne on drums), and Nate’s own original rootsy songwriting and virtuostic guitar playing. This band will surely take you on a musical journey that threads through multiple genres, incomparable in style and talent.
When he's not touring with the Nate LaPointe Band, Nate works as a freelance guitarist, playing 150 shows/year with SoCal's premiere Grateful Dead Tribute band Cubensis among other projects. Nate is the guitarist for the soul/r&b legend Bobby Womack when he's touring. Nate has also worked with such greats as Dave Mason, Vince Welnick, Charlie Haden, Bloodstone, and even opened for BB King on his 80th birthday tour.
