And that's just on a Tuesday...
Well we're both here you and I because I make music with the computer which is posted here, some of it, and you have either been invited to or stumbled across my page somehow and now maybe you are wondering what this Gruvenheimer business is all about. Who is this strange man who makes loud sounds with his computer that shakes walls and sets off car alarms? Okay, that last one only happened once, but it was a lot of fun.
In the interest of brevity and eye strain prevention, I will try to be succinct (it can be challenging for me): I fell in love with electronic music in 1983. When I first went to a nightclub in 1986 it became an obsession, the bass drove me into a frenzy. It was an infection. To this day I can still track boom in the dessert at a range of over the horizon, and I have used that skill to find underground parties in the city, like a bat or a dog responding to only super-high frequencies - only I am tuned to the super-low.
I joined a mobile Dj company when I was 18 and spent a lot of time setting up and breaking down equipment. When I was 19 I went onto the airwaves and stayed there for several years. After college I spent some time partying and trying to figure out where money comes from. At the ripe young age of 29 I came across my first programming software, and that was when things really started to click for me, albeit sowly at first.
In 2003 I started working as a News Editor with Uberlabel where I began publishing my music online. In 2004 I assumed the name Gruvenheimer (from Outlander). In 2006 I started Rockmore Records with Technetium. In 2007 I recorded one of the fastest songs in the world (999 beats per minute) and launched Boomrock Demolicious. Now in 2008 I have remixxed my first song for a contemporary (Genetics by Technetium) and I have just expanded my studio to include a whole arsenal of equipment that will take me a year just to fully grasp the implications of my new found abilities.
The next step is bring my music to the public, and to begin performing, and so I have been spending a lot of time recently working on playlists and cover artwork and getting healthy (I quit smoking this year and am lifting weights once again) and re-mastering my music. Not to mention learning new softwares and how to use a Mac. =]
There is no simple description for Gruvenheimer, no one genre into which I neatly fit; partly because I have been into so many different kinds of music like house, rave, punk and breakdance, and partly because this is a process that defines itself and so it is unpredictable. I am a lucky man, I get to play with sounds and somewhere along the line a muse steps in and makes something fun and magical happen.
I hope you enjoy these songs here. These are just a few, there are many more, and some of them you will see on here and some of them will be presented to you in other ways. Thank you for visiting my page! Do come back and if you like it, tell a friend!!!!
Yours in the Beat,
Gruvenheimer
