Geboren und aufgewachsen in Münster/Westfalen, sammelte die Künstlerin in den 80er Jahren reiche Erfahrungen als Jazzsängerin, u.a. beim Internationalen Jazzfestival Münster.
Sie studierte Jazzgesang an der Musikhochschule in Graz sowie an der Folkwang Hochschule Essen. Prägend war die Begegnung mit zwei Vertreterinnen des New Vocal Jazz: Jay Clayton und Lauren Newton. Zusammen mit Lauren Newton, Oskar Moerth und Bertl Mütter singt sie im Vokalquartett TIMBRE (Tourneen durch Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz und Japan).
Elisabeth Tuchmann was born in Muenster, Germany, and began learning guitar and singing at the age of 8.
At 16 she began studying jazz and improvisation.
Her vocal studies continued with Jay Clayton and Lauren Newton and she received her diploma in 1993.
She also has degrees in German literature, philosophy and musicology.
She has worked together and given concerts with the Brazilian composer Filó Machado.
She performs jazz, brazilian & improvised music as a soloist or as guest artist in various projects.
1995 she was the founder of and, since then, the arranger and conductor of the all women’s choir "Vocalisa" in Muenster.
1998 she began teaching at the music school in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
Since 2001 she lectures on vocal jazz improvisation, conducts and writes arrangements for the jazz choir at the conservatory of music and theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig.
She has been teaching and giving workshops on jazz singing, Brazilian music, vocal technique and improvisation since 1988.
From 2004 until 2006 her own quartet "Elba Noán" started performing jazz, brazilian music and original compositions.
Her new musical project is called
