THE STRIP

THE STRIP BARE ALL!

About Me

Wild, sexy Gypsy rock at it’s best. Clocking close to 100 live shows in 2006 alone, The Strip has performed in venues ranging from The Opera House, The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern, The Gladstone Hotel, Lee’s Palace, Trane Studio, The C’est What?, The Free Times Café, and The Lula Lounge, to art gallery openings, quaint country bistro afternoon luncheons, and daily TTC busking engagements. The band’s arsenal of imaginative, original material features the lush, unique interplay of guitar, banjo and saxophone, amidst a backdrop of well-crafted, groove-oriented bass and mature, thoughtful percussion. Introspective, contemplative lyrics are given full-colouring by sonorous, four-part harmonies. The avant-garde yet accessible sound of this talented troupe has been described by well-known Toronto concert promoter and publicist Richard Flohil as being “brimming with promise that will undoubtedly be fulfilled.” Consummate live performers who simply love making music together, the close relationship of these long-time friends shines through in their tight, fun-filled shows. A live in-studio performance of 3 original songs and an interview of the band are available at www.indiecan.com. The Strip performed a highly successful 12-week Sunday night stint at the very chic Gladstone Hotel, and a weekly acoustic Monday night residency in the Annex’s ‘The Labyrinth Lounge’ for over 2 years, where they were frequently joined by many musical comrades, including members of the extraordinary bluegrass group ‘The Foggy Hogtown Boys’, and the exciting New Orleans Party Orchestra, Toronto’s own ‘The Happy Pals.’ Joshua Collerhan, Promotions Manager at The Labyrinth Lounge, states: “For over two years The Strip worked wonders generating sales and a positive clientele whenever they performed. Beyond what they did for the business, theirs was a night the entire staff looked forward to for both their musical talents and their bright personalities. It was an honour to have them on board.” Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to The Strip.
