I may not be a normal guy, but hey, I'd rather be like me than like everyone else...

About Me

Hey,
Welcome to my page. You are all welcome here anytime.
My name is Erik, and I come from Davis, a college/cow town near Sacramento that I both love and hate. I am a musician, widely known for my bagpiping, but I also play guitar, bass, trumpet.......and whatever is within my reach. I look at music as an adventure, and if there isn't one, I'll create one myself. Most of the folks on my list now are people or bands that I consider to be of utmost coolness. If I add you, either I already know you, or think you'd be cool enough to talk to and be myspace friends with. As for people I'm looking to talk to: people, musicians, unususal people, and unusual musicians. You know who you are, and I'd like to talk to you! My myspace page doesn't really describe me as well as my blog does, so I invite you to Erik's Ranting Corner. So come out of the cold and stay a while. You might learn something!
Later,
Erik
P.S. Friends: Let me know you were here by leaving me a message or placing a comment. I'd love to hear from you guys!

My Interests

Music, constructive pessimism, writing, trespassing, loitering, walking around, plotting the demise of the rats in my backyard in vain, and stuff.

I'd like to meet:

You, and you, and you, you look interesting but not you, you, you, you, not you, you, especially you, not you, you, you, you, not you, and...you.

adopt your own virtual pet!

I'm a real ass...

Music:

Bagpipes, Disturbed, really old Korn, Wesley Willis, Camper Van Beethoven, Wicked Tinkers, Tempest, really really old U2 (all the stuff after Achtung Baby is pure crap), Guns n' Roses, The Pogues, Rolling Stones, Buckethead, Marilyn Manson, Led Zeppelin, Liam Lynch, Flogging Molly, most punk, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Waylon Jennings, The Alarm, The Cure, The Sex Pistols, Cracker, The Clash, Dropkick Murphy's, Smashing Pumpkins, Willie Nelson, The Beatles, Bon-era AC/DC (though Brian is still quite a good singer in his own right), Street Dogs, Gogol Bordello, Gwar, Matisyahu, The Real MacKenzies, The Tossers, Primus, The Beastie Boys, NIN, Weird Al Yankovic, Nirvana, Blind Melon, Soul Asylum, Modern English, Johnny Cash. The Who, Spinal Tap (If they made a CD, they're a real band in my book), R.E.M., and uh, "real" rap, some classical and most klezmer/gypsy music. If it's profound, unusual or wierd, I'll most likely like it.

Back home and a major announcement.

I returned home the evening of the 30th. Ever since then, I've spent most of my waking hours with my friends, catching up on lost times, having fun hanging out and acting like we did back in the day, ...

The end of the year blues.

The past week has been really depressing and lonely. Mike came by and tried to fix the car... and it worked for a while... only to break down again. The car will be junked next week most likely.I'm be...

All's said and done. Now what?

I think a lot. I think too much. Maybe that can be evidenced by my rather-long blogs. I have been thinking. If I return to Davis, I will most likely return to the life I had of spending endless hours ...

The curse of Davis claims another soul.

My girlfriend and I broke up. I now officially have no reason to stay here in San Diego. On December 30th, I am returning to Davis. Broke, sad, disappointed, depressed, and a menagerie of other unhappy...

2006, a year in review.

I sit here and think about 2006. A bulletin made me think all about it. A year full of hope and dreams, yet no matter what I did, all the hope was in vain. Nothing I worked hard for ever achieved anyt...

"There comes a time in every man's life, where decisions have to be made." -Dropkick Murphy's

And I have quite a few to make...Tomorrow marks my fifth month here, and things aren't looking any better. I'm broke, I'm giving my 30-day notice at my apartment today, and I'm left with a non-working...

Mental funhouse.

Obviously, my previous blogs paint the picture of a guy who's clearly upset and confused. I am sorry if I worried anyone. However, as someone who prides himself on his outspoken honesty, no matter what...

I fought injustice, and injustice won.

I lost the court case. I'm now stuck with a non-working piece of shit car. At least Adam Sandler's piece of shit car started...So... I have to register it, and then I need to somehow get rid of it... ...

Brain enema

I got home from a grueling day at Mervyn's a couple hours ago. Since then, it all hit me like a ton of bricks. Loneliness. There's nothing I can do about it. I tried calling my parents, but I guess I ...
