Nunzio Reina was born on 17/04/62, in Naples. He begane his musical studies at the age of eight under the guidance of his grandfather, it was perfected at the C. Pollini Conservatory of Padua with M° Ugo Orlandi, graduating with honours and praise. He has recorded 2 CDs: “ Il Mandolino: Autori del ‘700”(1990) and “Raffaele Calace: Opere per Mandolino e Pianoforte (2001), reflecting its interest in the original repertoire for the mandolin. He participated on behalf of some of the most important musical institutions in events where the mandolin plays an important role (Teatro S.Carlo in Naples, Accademia di S.Cecilia and Teatro dell’Opera in Rome). He worked with Roberto De Simone in “L’ammalato per apprensione”, a comedy-ballet by Moliere, from Neapolitan translation of ‘700 (1990-1991) and “ Le cantatrici Villane” by Fioravanti (1991), until the completion of a CD: “Era de maggio: Anamnesi digiacomiana (2007). From 1987 to 1991 he worked with Lina Sastri in her theatral tours in Italy and abroad, and he is also present in two of her discographical releases: “Maruzzella” and “Live on Broadway”. He has co-operated in the recording of soundtracks with the most important pop music composers (Morricone, Piovani, Trovajoli, Ortolani). Since its founding, he is a member of Renzo Arbore’s “Orchestra Italiana”, with wich has made international tours performing in some of the most prestigious theatres in the world (Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall in New Jork, Skydome in Toronto, Opera House in Sidney, Coliseo in Buenos Aires, Royal Albert Hall in London, Olympia in Paris, Regio of Parma, Teatro dell’Opera e Sistina in Rome) and released 6 CDs published by Ricordi/Fonit Cetra. He is component of 4MandoliNaples, quartet to pick ranging from “classical” and “world music” and that boats collaborations with Tullio De Piscopo, Giorgia and Ray Charles.
