About Me

Luciano Damiani, was born in 1970. He was very young when he started playing violin and viola, studying at the Conservatory of Music “Niccolò Piccinni" in Bari. He played together with the orchestra "Harmonia" of the Barese Atheneum, (also recording for the English BBC), and with the Orchestra "Collegium Musicum Apuliae". After getting the School Leaving Certificate, he attended a course of guitar at the Conservatory in Bari. His teachers were: Mr. P.L. Colonna, Mr.M.V. Carnicelli. He improved under the guide of the teachers: P. Scarola, O. Ghiglia, A. Ponce, A. Diaz, S. Palamidessi, R. Tursi, M. Colonna, A. Desiderio,S. Grondona, M. Tamayo. After getting the “Diploma in classic guitar, in 1995 he got the “Diploma “Jazz Music” at the Conservatory in Bari; Mr.Roberto Ottaviano was his teacher. Moreover, he attended the "Mister Jazz" course in 1990 and in 1991 in Ravenna, having Mr. Pat Metheney, Mr. Joe Diorio and Mr. Mike Stern as teachers. In 1994 he undertook the study of the lute by the Conservatory of Music "Niccolò Piccinni", with various teachers: Mr. Terrel Stone, F. Torelli and M. Pesci . He followed a course of improvement during the "Festival Savinese 1995" Arezzo with the teacher Mr. Terrel Stone. In the year 2000 he graduated in the course of mandolin by the Conservatory of Music in L'Aquila under the guide of the teacher Fabio Menditto, becoming the first musician in Bari with this title. He improved under the guide of the teacher Mrs. Dorina Frati and Mauro Squillante. He is developing an intense activity as soloist, in formations and varied jam sessions, using the aid of the guitar synth and proposing passages of own composition. As mandolin player he founded the "Real Duo" together with the guitarist Michele Libraro, an original and unknown formation that exhibited itself in various international festivals and concerts seasons in Italy and abroad, as "Paisiello Festival" in Taranto, "Guitarra Instrumental" in Madrid, "Guitar Festival" in Lagonegro (PZ), Guitar Festival "Luigi Legnani" in Cervia (RV), "International Guitar Festival" in Brno in Czech Republic, "Guitar Festival of Mottola" Taranto, and in many other events getting large success by the public. Compositors as Jorge Cardoso, Daniel Binelli and Fernando Carlos Tavolaro have recently write an music dedicated to the "Real Duo", original music for mandolin and guitar. Currently he is stable element as mandolin player and guitarist of the Orchestra "De Falla" directed by the teacher Pasquale Scarola and for Plectrum Orchestra of the conservatory of music "Niccolò Piccinni" in Bari He teaches by private schools as "Orkestra" and "Roland music school" in Bari and "Harmonium" in Cavallino (Lecce). He composes arranges and engraves for the independent label "VS Records" in Bitonto (Bari) He is summoned in errand examination in the conservatories and member of the jury at prestigious international musical contests. He taught guitar by the Italian Music Conservatory "G. Da Venosa" in Potenza and chamber music by the Conservatory of Music "N. Piccinni" in Bari and "R. Duni" in Matera where he is actually teacher in University first grade courses of guitar and jazz music. He is teacher for improvement courses and master-classes in many academies and schools and national and international festivals in Italy and abroad. Last July 2006 he got an academic diploma of the second level (specialization diploma) in "Instrumental Didactics" by the conservatory of music "A. Vivaldi" in Alessandria.
