Influences: Wow!!!! I am absolutely amazed at what a small world we are living in these days! As I look at more and more profiles, it strikes me how many of us from many different lands are citing so many of the same musical influences and interests. So here goes for me in no particular order.... The Beatles, Steely Dan, the Who, The Band, The Rolling Stones, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, The Grateful Dead, Frank Zappa, Stevie Wonder, the Allman Brothers, Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, Michael Gregory,The Police, Prince, Bob Marley,Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crow... okay that includes some of the early stuff. But there was also Igor Stravinksy, Bela Bartok, C. Debussy, Villa Lobos... Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, , Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Eddie Palmieri, Ruben Blades, Chico Buarque, Djavan, Caetano Veloso, Marisa Monte, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimiento,Sergio Mendes, Gilberto Gil, Hermeto Pasqual, Duo Assad, Badi Assad, Segovia, Sabicas, Mario Escudero,Paco Delucia, Camaron de la Isla, Tomatito, Rafael Riqueni, y el Ultimo de la Fila. These are a sampling of my listening habits, artists who have inspired me and held out something about the power of melody, harmony, rhythm and words. Not a complete list to be sure, but representative of some of the styles of music which have truly moved me and shaped me over the years.
