--SENOVES BALTU KOVU BROLIJA--THE ANCIENT BALTIC WARFARE BROTHERHOOD - VILKATLAKAI - Dusted down the ages we come to You, to turn back the circle of history, to show those man who lived and died for us, for our name. They are our roots, the keystone of our nation.SO LONG!!! TILL THE NEXT BATTLE!!! ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------ The word "Vilkatlakas" in old lithuanian means "one who is inside the wolfskin". Later this word changed into "vilkolakis" (werewolf), which meant "evil, evil spirits". The real meaning of this word reaches us from the bloody medieval times when our ancestry swimmingly protected their land from strangers (germans, poles, russians, vikings, mongols) as well as they plundered and shuddered their neighbours. Troop in those times consisted from cmmander ("VirÅ¡aitis") escort (profesional mounted warriors) and rankers cultivators (tillers) and volunteers. Vilkatlakai was exceptional cate (class) consisted of cruel, fearless and minded for psychosis profesional warriors. Such fighters in the heat of the battle flew into a fury, dropped they arms and attacked enemy only with teeth, clutch and bone-breaking hands. Reached culmination they felt brutal power and absolute hardiness to pain. There are some sources which confirm existence of this caste (class) in our society. To refer to those facts we try to renew this caste (class) here and now, we cross our swords to honour our ancestors and their heroic victorious marches.---------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------Th e idea of our brethren is to recreate ancient Baltic arms, armour and wear on the ground of the archaeological evidence and find the best way of using it. We try to recreate ancient Baltic martial art and use of the arms. Beside this we commemorate our ancestors dates of victory and marches. But could we do all this without a song? Prbably not. We take a pride in Lithuanian folk songs. We dance ancient dances and play ancient games just like our ancestors did. The recreation of our medieval times man fits contemporary Baltic warrior-barbarian image. Our work is our life and everything we do is real. Each thrust, each tilt is striken with power, each song, each word arise out of the heart. Fight without danger, song or word given at the wrong time or in the wrong place don't give a flow of spirits as well as the satisfaction of win. It became senseless acting. You will not find here any theatricalized movements or any sham either. All what we have, we make by ourselves and everything is real. Everything generally for our pleasure, for us, to satisfy our passion. And if our deeds is important for someone else, we satisfy twofold. You can feel living history, living archaeology over us, here and now touch the arms, armour, to see medieval fight, to drink some beer with us, to play some ancient games, to sing one of our folk songs. On this day an idea rushed into members of "Baltuva" heads to have military celebration- SAULÄ–S MÅªÅ IS. We began to manufacture weapons, to train. In 1999 we began to fights with sharp weapons. All the details of mode of life Balts tribes are used in hike all-year-round.Tactics and martial arts of Balts we rehabilitate too. Point is holy: to show appearances, force, courage and warlike preparations of the Balts troop in Festivals and to tan Vikings, Slavs, Mongols and knights hide.We rehabilitate V- XIII c. This is a fundamental period of Lithuania history in our view. This is establishment of Lithuania and palmy days of our state with individual culture. Presentation of singularity of the Balts culture is our power and destination.Our experiential knowledge is presented in lectures and conferences, our performances, in which we show not only fights but also we cite medieval chronicles about Forebear fights and sing war songs.We have got to make mention of "Festival of crafts and warfare of Baltic region tribes Apuole 854".
