About Me
The Generals
Together, Matt Sertich (vocals, guitar, keys), Kirk Janowiak (drums, programming, keys) and Blane Barker (bass – and sponsored skateboarder!) are the trend-setting, paradigm-shifting musical force dubbed The Generals. The band's sound houses alt-pop and synth sounds in a rock fusion that entwines the various streams of musical influences into a driven whole that pierces the listener right between the eyes (by way of the ears, of course).
Uplift
“Music,†say The Generals, “brings feelings of euphoria, happiness, saddness and inspiration ... but never anger.†You won't hear anybody screaming at a Generals show (unless they're yelling in joy at the band members on stage). What you'll get from a dose of The Generals' outstanding and unique music is a hard-hitting boost of energetic inspiration. In other words, these songs make you feel good. Embrace it.
Tools of Communication
The Generals understand the profound abilities of music to use entertainment value as a method of communicating with others, touching minds and making connections. “Music, we feel,†is one of the most powerful tools to communicate emotions, dreams and ideas,†says The Generals. They use music's ability to convey the sublime and wordless into a tangible form that others can understand. “Music is one of our best friends, the light at the end of the tunnel.â€
Everywhere
Inspiration can be found in all places, everywhere you look. The Generals incorporate a wide array of ideas and musings to fuel their music, making for songs that are diverse and intelligent and have something for everybody. “Inspiration,†says The Generals, “comes from life, people, feelings and relationships.†The Generals' infuse their songs with profound expressions of human ideals.
