About Me

The Blend is a five man riot of gorgeous noise driven by the thought provoking lyrics of frontman and three-time national slam poet, Toussaint Morrison. The Blend's ever widening fan base, nationwide network of street teams, and consistency to rock the road on national tours is a testament to their compelling sound. Creeping up on the Minneapolis music scene since their days of high school in 2001, this band has finally arrived. Although held to the title of "live band hip-hop" this group is by no means defined by hip-hop. From sold out venues comprised of emcees and rap addicts in Chicago, IL, to capacity concerts in Sioux Falls, SD filled with Arctic Cat Jackets and cowboy hats, The Blend manages to revolutionize the title of "hip-hop" standing deeply rooted in shades of rock, jazz, and classical music. Hailing from Minneapolis and having opened for national touring acts such as Saliva, Story of the Year, The Big Wu, P.O.S., Brother Ali, and Heiruspecs this group is a must see.
Beginning as a bass, drums, and two emcees taking first in a city-wide talent contest, summer of 2001, The Blend has evolved to a solid five piece performing numerous gigs throughout the Minneapolis underground scene. Permeating the Midwest college circuit and touring Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, New York, S. & N. Dakota and Minnesota, the group has attracted a following and developed a reputation in and outside of the hip-hop community and has received press and a photograph by USA Today. The band's LP release, After What Came Before is their sophomore album. Their EP, Last Piece of a Broken Cause, has reached the top 200 of the CMJ charts and is in rotation on hundreds of radio stations throughout the country.

The 2nd EP from one of the most talented live bands in the country. The Blend launches nine pieces, with full introduction and conclusion to each track, from the foundations of hip-hop, rock, and blues. Decored with a taste of a capella and punk rock, this EP runs its course through stories of what it means to be human, and the roots of addiciton. Available on Itunes in late May '08, and hardcopy in-stock soon!

An EP, packed with four heavy numbers poscripting grips with Minneapolis, touring in their shortbus "Double Bogey", and a what-not-to-do seminar when showing up to a party unannounced. The tirade of sound and hardest working emcee in his apartment, strike again in this dynamic badass set of four doses.

Introducing The Blend's first step into the realms of a defineless genre, with an overwhelming sound that somehow finds a way to make a prison break on each track. With socially conscious lyrics that pick locks to the listener's brain, this album waists no time in outright demanding your attention and present thought. As much as it makes your head bob and body pulse to its undeniable stone cold rhythms and addicting beats, the message and literature of this work is one that declares you to think.
