Ice Cream records will go down in history as the first record label to pioneer the first ever UK Garage cross over... the monster big bassline track RipGroove by Double 99. From it's release back in 1997 on Ice Cream records it spawned a whole new era, which today is a very healthy UK Garage scene.

The boys behind this ground breaking label are Andy Lysandrou, Tim Deluxe And Omar Adimora with all 3 starting the label back in 1995, dropping their first release, 'Pick Me Up'. Tim Deluxe and DJ Omar, aka Double 99, RIP Productions, and 10 Below, made the music while Andy headed the A&R, promotion, and marketing. Between 1995 and early 1997 Ice Cream released some all time underground classics including, 'Deep

Inspiration', 'Obsessed', 'Work It', 'Club Traxs vol.1', 'The Players', and 'Move To Jersey'. Then, in early 1997, after building a massive buzz through DJs, record shops, radio, and clubs, Ice Cream decided it was time to experiment with the music, and at the same time release it on a double-pack, with two 12" vinyls. What was to follow on these two pieces of classic vinyl only the people that treasure a copy will know.

The double-pack was called Double 99, across the two vinyl's were eight tracks all having there own individual flavas, but one really stood out... Rip Groove. The double-pack was released in march of 1997, within 3 days this double-pack was sold out in every independent record store from London to Dublin. The demand was so big that Ice Cream had to rush release the second batch within 48 hours with some shops staying open until midnight so punters could get their hands on a copy!

Within a month of it's release, RipGroove was been played in 97% of clubs and radio up and down the country . Ice Cream had hit on something that was about to change the direction of UK dance music for good... it was just about to take UK Garage in to the national charts for the very first time.

At this point the major record labels were out in full force, desperate to collaborate with Ice Cream... Virgin, Warners, BMG, Sony, EMI, XL, the list just went on. They all wanted a piece of the new trend that Ice Cream had championed.

RipGroove was released officially for the national charts in October of 97 going straight to No.1 in 'The Chart Show', and No.14 on 'Top Of The Pops' . After the success of RipGroove, just about every major record label wanted the next garage hit.

Ice Cream continued it's journey in 1998, signing Colours, this was a double aa side including 'Hold On' and 'What U Do'. This went on to be one of the biggest records of 1998. Between 1998 and 2000, as well as releasing records, Ice Cream/ Rip Productions/ 10 Below were also behind some of the biggest remixes including, Roy Davis Junior, Gabrielle, Ultra Nate's "Free" (UK No.1), Mighty Dub Cats, and Kele Le Roc. Also, during 1999, Ice Cream records were just about to start another massive hype around a home grown band called True Steppers, but this time it was Andy that was at the controls with legendary DnB producer Jonny L. So, late in '99 they dropped their first release a re-worked version of Jonny L classic 'Hurt You So'. We fast forward to feb of 2000 when True Steppers were just about to become one of the most talked about dance bands of the year... True Steppers get together with ex Another Level member Dane Bowers and write the track 'Buggin'. Once again, the Ice Cream machine is put in action and the track goes on to become one of the anthems of the summer of 2000 as well as charting at No.6 in the national charts.

The hype on True Steppers was just about to move up to top gear and make front page news. Victoria Beckham was on the trail of the 'Steppers, and looking for that garage sound. Step in posh and hold on tight, True Steppers 'Out Of Your Mind' feat Dane Bowers and Victoria Beckham was the biggest hyped record of 2000, going head to head for the number 1 spot with one of the biggest dance tracks in the last decade, Spiller feat Sophie Ellis Bextor, this was not going to be easy. True Steppers sold over 50,000 records in the first day of release and kept the number 1 slot on midweek sales until the very last day then ending up at no 2 and selling just under 200,000 records in the first week alone. To date, 'Out Of Your Mind' is still the biggest selling solo spice girl record ever!

Ice Cream records also went on to sign Mr Reds vs. Dj Scribble feat Busta Rhymes.... No.1 dance chart hit and national chart hit.
