About Me

***As a result of some very enthusiastic reviews from GarageBand.com members, "Dust" is the Track of the Day at GarageBand.comDJ Scorpion PhD is a former southern Louisiana native who relocated to Athens Georgia to continue his study of music. Scorpion has performed as a frelance musician in many various styles of music with roots in classical and jazz performance. While attending USL (now known as The University of Louisiana at Lafayette) his career as a club DJ began to take off. He began performing shows in venues located in Lafayette, Thibodaux, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and even Texas and California. Scorpion has always had a particular love for underground dance music, which led him into the world of industrial music. During his shows his aim is to take the listener on a musical journey. As such, music and video would often be combined to address different topics, something that the industrial music he enjoys allowed him to do with considerable ease. Scorpion is in the process of completing his PhD in musicology at the University of Georgia with his dissertation being written on the development of industrial music. At the same time, he continues to create remixes of other bands' music and is a member of the industrial trio, 95 Lb. Lapdog. The songs contained on this website are examples of some of the remixes Scorpion has created. Major influences on Scorpion's styles are too numerous to mention them all, but some favorites include Frontline Assembly, Front 242, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Delerium, Chris & Cosey, Meat Beat Manifesto, and Throbbing Gristle, the founding fathers of industrial music who he interviewed last summer for his dissertation and his book which are in the process of being completed. Scorpion hopes you enjoy these remixes as much as he enjoyed creating them. If you like these songs, be sure to check out the music of 95 Lb. Lapdog on MySpace, as those songs are all originals. ***Be sure to check out the latest new tracks by 95 Lb.
