About Me

***Dust has been named the industrial track of the day at GarageBand.com for August 11, 2006!!!*** Click on the button for details...The Athens, GA. based group, 95 lb. Lapdog, is the result of the merger of The Real CIA (Thesic Kness and jonAthan parKer) and DJ Skorpion, Ph.D. Lapdog is a mixture of three different elements, industrial music, improvised music, and film. Each of the three artists is an expert in their specific artistic fields. It should also be noted that the 95 lb. lapdog has grown to over 120lbs, but it just doesn't sound as cool.Thesic Kness (aka. Jeff Crouch) (1978) has been studying and performing music since 1980. He holds degrees from the University of Georgia (Music Education) and a Masters of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts (African-American Improvisational Music). He is best known for his trumpet work with the free jazz SS Puft Quartet, having released three albums on the Solponticello Records label as well as being on the 2002 AthFest compilation (Ghostmeat Records). Recently, Thesic has provided his trumpet skills to groups including Diet Echo, Capser and the Cookies, Henslee and Kenslee's childrens' record "Wiggley, Biggley Toes" and NYC based improviser Jeremiah Cyerman's "Big Explotation" (2007 Solponticello Records). Other current music projects of the Sickness include "The H.E.A.P. Project", the Crouch/Lawless Jazz Quintet and random Avant-Jazz show with various artists.jonAthan parKer (1980) is also a CalArts alumnus. He studied film, but also participated in many improvised music settings, including the electronic improvisers The Hammer Brothers. He recently was awarded the Mary Lincoln Baxter White Award for his progressive achievement in film.DJ Skorpion, Ph.D (aka Peter Lawless) (1969) is considered the worlds leading scholar in Industrial Music. Skorpion is currently finishing his Ph.D in musicology and is writing a book on the development of Industrial Music. He has been an active performer in many fields of music, not just industrial. He has been performing as a trumpet player for over twenty-five years, playing in every imaginable setting. Having recently played at "Wired, Athens Electronic Music Festival" and co-founding the Crouch/Lawless Jazz Qunitet (with fellow lapdog member, Thesic Kness) Skorpion continues to keep very busy with different music project. Skorpion has been recognized as the most popular DJ in New Orleans (his birthplace), where at the age of fifteen he began spinning at many different clubs in the French Quarter and is the best f***ing cook you'll ever know...TAME THE LAPDOG --- Show & Tell is now available as a ringtone for your mobile phone for only $1.99!!!
