SPACE GRASS w/BLACK PINEAPPLE

.. We are heavy rock/psychedelia.We got the name from the Clutch song "space grass".Which is what the UFO scientists called the metallic substance found in trees in Lancaster after a UFO sighting.We thought this was a good title because of the duality of the title and the music we were developing..spacey, organic grooves....with structure, yet looseness and free jammed sections...We started out as a three piece from out of Oakland, CA:((Doug Weldy(drums),John Santos(guitars,vocals),Kelly Waldrip(bass,vocals))...we formed at Soundwave studios in the spring of 2004...after the hiatus of our previous free jam band: Aparatus....we wrote an album: "Ride The High"..with drummer: Doug Weldy (Greenhouse Effect, Heavy Silver, Six Liter, and Choke Chain), and B3 player and inspiration: Jim Juhn (Nunfist, Low-Flying Aircraft, Propeller).We played one show with the first lineup @The Freedom Rock Fest(in Martinez).Doug went on to join Choke Chain and we added Bob Kowalski(Standing Room Only, Green Man's Dead, Buzz Cauldron) to the lineup on drums.We played a few local shows and wrote a second album,that we didn't get the chance to record.Bob moved on to his current project: Catalyst.And after the breakup of our main project at the time: Fuzzplow...we went on as a five piece with Danny on drums, Jim Juhn on B3 organ and Black Pineapple (formerly Pynoman from Psychtic Pineapple) on vocals. We are currently working on a double album.
