Once upon a time in Burkina Faso...
Our organization aims to contribute to promote and protect cultural diversity in the world thanks to the use of show places, production and broadcasting of living art shows.
Our musical and field experiment, especially in West Africa, brought us closer to their culture. It gives us the advisability to know better the different musical expressions with local artists. Having a taste for this kind of diversity and as a mark of respect for it, our goal is to protect different bands in order to give them an access to international stages.
Who’s Dialolo?
United by a strong friendship and musical complicity, Hamed Ouattara and Lassina Dembele decided to set up the band Dialolo. Quickly joined by Ouédraoga Ousmane, Mamadou Dembele and Zoumana Diabate, they made their first album titled “Mande Koulekan†in the sound studio Seydoni in Ouagadougou. The musicians are living in Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso.
Inspired by different instruments from their culture (balafon, kora, ngoni, etc.) and driven by their desire to hand over their rich heritage from Burkina Faso, they offer an amazing concert, bewitched by their country’s soul.
Their joy of life is contagious and the virtuosity of the players of balafons impressive. They naturally and sincerly sing hopes, anger and humour of their people the show exudes a party spirit that makes us think of the big African family.
Dialolo lets ourselves be carried away in a joyful twister with discipline and the respect of requirements of song and traditional danse.
Lassina DEMBELE comes from the ethnic group Bwaba from Solenzo, a small village in the North-West of Burkina Faso. He was born on the 01/14/1977 in Bobo Dioulasso, in a musician and poet family (griot).
From childhood, he follows a strict training. His first music teacher was his grand-father Kalifa Dembele, one of the famous musicians in the area. Here he discovered places were balafon is played, such as cabarets, baptisms, weddings, funerals. When his teacher died, he took his place as the main player of balafon of his village.
After his studies he came in Bobo Dioulasso where he met Hamed Ouattara. And then he improved with several bands such as Bolibana from Mamadou Sanou, Farati from Koko and Yankadi Faso from Lassina Coulibaly, with whom he registered two albums (label “Musique du monde†– “World Musicâ€) on the European market at the present time. In 2002, he participated to a French tour : festival of Ris-Orangis, Plein Sud of Cozes, Fiesta in Gap and Marseille.
After that he entered the band Solidarité in Bobo where he was taught how to play the djembé, the ngoni and the doum-doumba. They apply for the festival Yeleen at the S.N.C. (cultural national week, in french) in Bobo, the National Grand Prix of traditionnal song, then in Ouagadougou for the jazz festival, at the Fespaco and the S.I.A.O.
Today, Lassina is working on his musical creation in the capital with his friend Hamed Ouattara. Together, they develop their teachers’ learning though Dialolo.
