Computer Chillin V8: "I Got Variety Try Me" OUT

About Me

On August 10th, Jasen Ellis was born into struggling times in the GTA. The youngest of five children, Jasen’s life was already on a steady decline when his parents experienced an unfortunate separation, making the Ellis family just another statistic of divorce. As a single parent forced into a one bedroom shelter with five children, Mrs. Ellis worked multiple jobs and endured back-breaking labor in order to provide a decent standard of living for her family. It was evident that she was determined to break through these rough times as she was able to upgrade her family to Metro Housing. Anything was better than sharing one room. All her hard work was paid off as Mrs. Ellis was able to relocate her family to the Durham Region. The future was looking bright. However, this change of location caused a major re-adjustment in Jasen’s life. Being one of the only black students in the neighborhood, he endured many acts of prejudice and discrimination. This was just another hurdle to overcome.

Rapping became his sanctity, music – his inspiration and freestyle - his passion. His music venture began in his third year of high school. Free styling in the hallways and cafeteria, these verses would flow freely from his mind, but he struggled when it came to writing. A few close friends encouraged Jasen to write his songs down but he could never complete a full verse. Ryan “Beatwyze” Miller began creating beats as a hobby and soon became one of Canada’s up and coming producers. He suggested that if Jasen could get his lyrics up to par, he could ‘ride’ some of his beats. Jasen took Ryan’s advice and started writing. In 2002 Jasen created his first demo track, “The Struggles of Black” and soon after, he became DAXFLOW. What started out as a nickname, quickly transformed into a vivacious personae. Hip-hop flows through his veins. The Canadian hip-hop industry is believed to be in a state of decline. Droves of up and coming artists are striving to change this culture’s reputation. DAXFLOW firmly believes that “by believing in yourself will find others believing in you too. Respect yourself and keep it real.”

Upon completion of College in 2005, DAXFLOW started work on his first official mixtape entitled, “Dark Dayz” The spring of 2006 saw two more releases, “Go Go Gadget Flow” (Hosted by Project Bounce, DJ Grouch) and “Computer Chillin’: I Got Variety, Try Me”. This mixtape series spawned a success in it’s own right and the quality speaks for itself. DAXFLOW began performing in 2006 and has braved the stage in a variety of different venues. He is currently collaborating with DJ Coop on his third mixtape of the year “Darker Dayz”, the follow-up to his first project “Dark Dayz”. Daxflow’s debut album is due to be released in late 2008.
