You've heard it before -- The Civil Rights Movement was arguably the most
profound and rebellious advancement of our times that emerged and fell in
the 1960s. However, even after it's short run, it's presence and
preserverance spawned an entire generation of strong-minded African
Americans and it's impact is STILL felt today. So much in fact, that a
young, fellow Georgian that goes by the name of 'Twist' has endured it's
influence and embelished upon creating his own movement promptly titled, the "Civil Mics Movement." CMM is a crusade that was concocted in the midst of keeping together the livelihood of true, credible Hip-Hop. Disgruntled with
Hip-Hop's current bigotry and hoodwinkedness, Twist has been on a constant
mission to help construct the perfect musical monument. His omnipresence is
steadily becoming undeniable in the Internet world, streaming along the same vein as a celebrity rumor. But unlike the usual gossip, he claims that his staying power will transcend time in due time.
Coming from a broken home (parental split when he was just a child), Twist
coincidentally found himself searching for a new home, searching for a place
to fill in that void. Golden Age Hip-Hop, just as it was for millions of
others across the globe, was the remedy. This brand of music gave him what
he calls a destined purpose and he plans to live that out to the fullest
extent. And similar to the Civil Rights Movement, his reasoning and actions
are at odds with the current, popular belief. This is why the name holds so
much value.
With the aid of composer Nelace and producer Fundamental, Twist is now
undoubtedly on the verge of something monstrous by enlisting a plethora of
producers, solo artists, music groups, b-girls and b-boys, designers and
just straight up fans of REAL Hip-Hop to the CMM arsenal. Campaigning
against any nay-sayers, CMM as a unit will be quick to dismiss any and all
fraudulent foes. They are cautious and careful about any additions to the
collective, for any potentials must maintain a certain level of
authenticity, with music being the main root.
With a slew of tracks and interludes underway by various CMM members, one
would be bamboozled to not think alteast ONE album is in the works! The Civil Mics Movement Compilation is tentatively scheduled for a late Winter/early Spring release date, and this soundscape already promises to please all supporters of any genre of REAL music. Be on the lookout for a near takeover as CMM strengthens in drive and numbers for many years to come. In closing, with this watered down, minstrel show claiming to be the billion dollar Hip-Hop industry that's currently dominating the airwaves, who's side will you join?
