'Taay started on his musical journey way back in 1997 as a way to express himself, but it was not until mid 2000 that he started taking his musical ability very seriously.
"I used to just sit down and write poetry/rhymes over anything that had a rhythm, but I had no knowledge of how to actually get my ideas recorded"
It was around this time that 'Taay enrolled into Ayr College and learned how to take his music to the next level in a professional environment it was at this time that his alternative stance to hip hop really took shape
"Because of my love for alternative and rock music, I knew that I would never make 'normal' hip hop music, and that it would always have a heavier distinct sound"
While at Ayr College, 'Taay was in several bands that had varying degrees of success but they never seemed to last for different reasons. Disappointed with this 'Taay became a solo act and tried to keep a band ethic to his music without actually having a band.
"I figured that I could utilize the musicians that I had met along the years essentially as my session musicians until the time became right to join another band"
'Taay wouldn't join another band until mid 2008 when he along with 4 of his friends formed the band Bit of Bonus the band showed great potential with a unique blend of Hip Hop, Rock, Acoustic and Punk Influences. The Band recieved quite a lot of attention although having only played one show.
"After having only one live recording and a couple of demo tracks recorded we seemed to have a couple of independant labels really interested in our sound, its just a shame that the band never got past the demo stage"
Unfortunatly Bit of Bonus broke up in December of 2008 with two of its members away studying it made it hard for rehearsals to happen and harder for the demo to be worked on. This left 'Taay back at square one again.
"it sucked because we were almost finished on the demo and i'm sure that it would have gotten us a deal, I mean the stuff we were coming up with sounded amazing, it's just a shame it fell through"
So Now 'Taay is trying to get a new band lineup and work on new material as a few labels are still very interested in this eMCee from Scotland.
