I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !
Detroit-based experimental space rock group Füxa focus on a lo-fi,
electronics-heavy blend of droning, treated guitars, vintage synths
(most often the Hammond B-3), and sparse percussion in the vein of
Loop, Spacemen 3/Spiritualized, and Amp. First Comprised of Randall Nieman
and Ryan Anderson, the group formed in 1995 after Nieman left Dearborn-
based space-rock group Windy & Carl to pursue other projects. He hooked
up with Anderson, who'd recently severed his ties with another local
group, Asha Vida, and a common interest in arcane instruments and
electronics led the pair to each form a label Nieman with Mind
Expansion and Anderson with Astro Lanes to put out collaborative
material. What followed was a veritable flood of releases, not only
on Mind Expansion and Astro Lanes, but labels such as Burnt Hair,
Alley Sweeper, Che, Ochre, Earworm, Static Caravan and Darla. most of them meticulously conceived with an eye toward collectibility (hand-cut and numbered sleeves,
colored vinyl, strategic split recordings, etc.). The result was
Fuxa's quick ascension to cult status, buoyed by split recordings
with artists such as Orange Cake Mix, Flowchart, Bright, and
Stereolab. The group were also featured on Virgin U.K.'s mammoth
post-rock companion Monsters, Robots, and Bugmen in 1996 and
conducted a brief U.S. tour as Stereolab's support that same year.
The group released several full-lengths (including Three Field
Rotation, which collects their first three singles and adds two new
tracks). In 1998 Ryan Anderson left the band and Randall took over Fuxa as a solo project. He has since released 4 more highly acclaimed albums (Inflight Audio, Fuxa2000, Supercharged and The Modified Mechanics Of This Device), as well as a string of ltd edition hand crafted 7" singles. Most recently with The Telescopes and Landing. Randall continues to record under the Fuxa name and is working on the next album titled "Electric Sound of Summer", scheduled for release in 2008. Album features special guests: Sonic Boom, Dean Wareham, Martin Rev, Richard Formby, Willie B. Carruthers, Jerry Hope, The Telescopes and more! There will be a preceding cd ep titled "füxa commits suicide" featuring different versions and mixes of 2 classic Suicide covers "girl" and "cheree". recorded with Sonic Boom (SPACEMEN 3/SPECTRUM/E.A.R.) and Dean Wareham (galaxie 500/luna). ep also features "4th abductions". a Beautiful 10 minute long collaboration between Fuxa and Suicide's own Martin Rev. The first single for the new album ("Electric Sound of Summer" b/w "Thank You Jesus") is out now on the Static Caravan label. 7" single is limited to 500 copies and pressed on multi colored swirl vinyl.
