Music is me!
I didn't think I would actually get involved with music after Ragga Jungle stopped getting made and Drum and Bass took over (NO DISS). My music comes from my family. My Uncle Marcus used to make speakers for Sir Coxsone sound from way back so also my other Uncle Stan is part of Jah Youth (Roots) Sound System. So I kind of grew up around 18" Bassbins since morning.
I got taught Trumpet from 7-16 whilst at school which taught me how to read music! I got a really expensive Keyboard (Organ) for Christmas when I was 10 and I taught myself how to play.
I used to MC to Jungle with my cousin: Know-1-Special on Future FM and at Sunny Isles, Charmers, Ilford Island, Notting Hill Gate Carnival and anywhere we could buss up dance!
Moved out of London in 96 to Birmingham. They luv Jungle there. I got used to listening to Bassman etc (He would kill Dub-step!) Got bored, moved to Belgium for a year in 98 - by the coast. Nice times (Only a 3 Hour drive to Amsterdam.....................). Moved to Leicester in 2000; these times I started to listen to Sound-Clashes again (Old and New) and also a lot more Foundation and Dub Riddims.
Finally gave into my home sickness and came back to East London (DAM! I've been to 49 countries but East London tops it!!!)
My cousin: Know-1-Special introduced me to Dubstep in 05. When I heard the weight line with the reggaeness as well I was gob smacked! I finally heard a Hatcha and Crazy-D set from Rinse fm and that was it. Hooked.
Got introduced to DJ J-ROOTZ in September 06. I hadn't picked up mic for years but...HAVE YOU HEARD THIS MUSIC??!!! I had no choice! We made our 1st set which was over 2hrs long, from then on I haven't looked back. I am currently busy with various new productions and collabos; organising various events to be held all over Europe as well as working on Vintage Dub (Check the page for further details) . Our sound started out on Axe FM but now we have progressed ontoSub Fm and React Fm (3 Shows a week!).
Been making beats for about 12 months and just trying to get the hang of this STUFF but it's all good.
I will always keep the DUB in Dubstep..................................................... ..
