I'd like to meet people that are willing to take the time to really get to know me. I love people who can be child-like and silly without worrying about every little thing. My philosophy is: If I'm going to worry it should at least be about something that's happening instead of something that "might" happen. I don't think relationships, friendship or otherwise, can exist without effort, and it's rewarding and challenging to get to know someone and understand what makes them happy and fulfilled. "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." - John Lennon
Some of my favorites in fairly random order:Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, KISS, R.E.M., U2, Pretenders, Queen, Keane, The Beatles, Elvis Costello, The Police, Pink Floyd, The Who, Kansas, The Cars, Pete Yorn, Boston, Fleetwood Mac, Soul Asylum, Journey, Def Leppard, Bruce Hornsby, Rush, World Party, Tracy Chapman, Van Halen, Peter Gabriel, The Sounds, Blondie, AC/DC, Dio, The Smithereens, Megadeth, Liz Phair, INXS, Queensryche, Motorhead, Norah Jones, Live, The Knack, James, Suzanne Vega, Tears For Fears, Bob Dylan, Del Amitri, Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 10,000 Maniacs, Nirvana, Ozzy Osbourne, Kate Bush, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Ramones, The Outfield, Hole, Alice Cooper, The Sundays, The Cranberries, No Doubt, Sarah Brightman, Matthew Sweet, XTC, Counting Crows, The Wallflowers, Lou Reed, enya, Blackmore's Night, The Donnas, Sinead O'Connor, BoDeans, Loreena McKennitt, The Cure, Pearl Jam, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Scorpions, Styx, ELO, The Darkness, Michael Penn, Steve Earle, Roxette, Concrete Blonde, B-52s, Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne, Graham Parker, Madonna, Hayseed Dixie (my friend's band), John Denver, Dido, Midnight Oil, Tori Amos, Josh Rouse, The Cure, Bob Mould, They Might Be Giants, Iron Maiden, Garbage...I love 80's music and dig some hair metal when I'm in a frivolous mood. I have greatest hits only by Human League, Culture Club, Men At Work, Howard Jones, Psychedelic Furs, Simple Minds, Echo and The Bunnymen...Poison, Cinderella, Warrant, Dokken...If I listed all the artists I like it would take 3 times this much space!
High Fidelity, School Of Rock, This Is Spinal Tap...I'm into all kinds of movies, but usually don't watch them over and over and don't have a lot of favorites, really. I am a fan of Adam Sandler and John Cusack, though, and I usually go see their movies when they come out. A few movies that come to mind that impacted me in the past few years have been Gangs Of New York, Hotel Rwanda, Cinderella Man, and The Pursuit Of Happyness. I also dug the Lord Of The Rings movies, Gladiator, Almost Famous, King Kong...I even like romantic comedies. ;-)
24, Grey's Anatomy, The Office, Lost, Desperate Housewives, ER, Boston Legal, Survivor, Surreal Life, SNL...I think that's about it, though I got sucked into American Idol this last time. Freak And Geeks was one of my favorite shows ever! Most tv is kind of lame and I don't want to spend any more time on it than I already do, but it's entertaining sometimes.
My favorite books are musician's biographies like The Dirt, Walk This Way, KISS And Make Up...I recently read Conversations With Tom Petty and Contents Under Pressure (about Rush)...both great books if you're a fan. I used to read self-help books, but at this point I've helped myself about as much as I can. You can only read so much of that stuff before it all runs together. As far as magazines, I've been a consistent Rolling Stone reader for years. I also read the Nashville Scene every week and All The Rage every now and then as well. They're both free weekly local papers for those of you that aren't from around here. :-)
My grandmother was my greatest hero. She somehow remembered everything about people she had met and truly cared about anyone she came in contact with...simply an amazing woman with an incredible memory. My mom took after her and is equally amazing.
