William Henry Gates III, is an American self-made businessman, philanthropist and software magnate. Bill Gates is a powerful and influential man in the businessworld and he is widely admired. The annual Forbes magazine's list of "The World's Billionaires" has ranked him as the richest person in the world for twelve consecutive years from 1995 to 2007. In 2008 list, ranks third with a current net worth of $58 billion. In 1999, his wealth surpassed $101 billion making him one of the richest persons in the history of the world. Gates gave away over $30 billion to charities from 2000 onwards and received many honorary awards as a recognition for his philanthropic work from several institutions around the world.
