The band, born in autumn 1994 with the previous name of Neriene, was formed by Luciano Laky Chessa, lead guitar, Michele Miky Chessa, guitar and voice, and the bassist Andrea BJ Caminiti. Few months later, Alex Julius Giuliani, drums, joined the band.In Winter 1996, after the release of their first self-titled demo tape, Neriene changed their name in IV LUNA, latin words meaning fourth day of crescent moon, a moniker more adapt to describe the gloomy atmosphere in their sound.In spring 1997 IV LUNA entered in studio to record Promo 97, composed by three original long tracks (about 20 minutes). The promo was only destined to radio, magazine, and zine and obtained great reviews. Promo 97 was played by various station radio and permitted the band to play to some local festivals, for example Sesta in Festa and Nel Nome Del Rock (Palestrina, RM) where they shared the stage with Scisma, Venus, and Misery Loves CO.In April 1999 the band came back in studio to record their first album, Liberamente, self-produced in collaboration with B&b Productions, and presented on the beginning of 2000 at Mentelocale, famous rock club in Palestrina, (RM). The CD received great acclaims from all rock/metal magazines and the band started giggling all over Italy.In 2003 the band published DIncanto, a new album, released for Blond Records. This record obtained again amazing reviews and a wide public success.
The band, being involved every daily life moment in writing, arranging and playing their songs, started to feel the effect to dont have a label which can give them the right promotion. Blond Records, being a label that produces a total different kind of music respect to IV LUNA, wasnt able to sell the album.In 2005 IV LUNA and BJ friendly split up, because of new musical interests of the bassist. Giacomo Tris Citro became new bass-player in the band and they soon started to compose new songs with english lyrics to try to sell their music not only in Italy but in Europe and over.In January 2006 the band released a promotional enhanced Ep, Anteroom, aiming to present their music only to label that could be really interesting to sell, to produce and to promote it. Their sound could be briefly defined as Progressive/Gothic/Metal but it is a sound drawn from an eclectic range of influence, due to the different music that each IV LUNA musicians listen to, and characterized by carefull arrangements and Miks versatility voice.
