It was warm, wonderful, loving and was very important to my journey. When my Methodist pastor became Orthodox, i was the youth director and touring with my music. In Columbus, Ohio i had a free Sunday morning and walked into an Orthodox Church never to be the same. My experience as a Protestant was good and i am thankful, but when i saw the worship of the Early Church alive and well, i realized i had found a depth, richness, and true worship that i had never known.My wife and i joined the Eastern Orthodox Church in 1995, and never looked back. i had been interdenominational, Methodist, Presbyterian, American Baptist, and Charismatic.The important thing in all this journey is the relationship with Christ who has revealed the way, truth and life of God to us. i love the liturgy where i can stand next to a heavy metal fan, and a country fan, and we just worship acapella with ancient hymns and psalms and scripture. i love all the richness of the incense, the icons, the candles, the teaching of the Early Church Fathers, confession to Christ in the presence of a priest helping me as a guide. All of this ancient faith helps me be less of a bozo, and closer to Christ.i have done music professionally since i was 16 with folk and rock bands. Tours have been from Eastern Europe to Korea, from Canada to Equador. 14 albums through the years, lots of concerts with music, comedy and speaking.
