About Me

The artist, actor, deejay, and producer commonly known as Enoch was born Shawn Williams in St. Louis, circa 1968. Once upon a time, you could find this young man doodling profiles of afros on sketch pads or trying to invent what would eventually be known to him as remixing and multi-track recording. You may have heard one of his carefully selected slow-groove tapes or perhaps been at one of the high school dances in the gym where he and his best friend were the deejays and the life of the party.Hobbies become careers. The afro doodling lad later became a barber after receiving a set of clippers for Christmas and perfecting his craft on family and friends for free. The cassette recorders with condenser microphones became the prerequisites for learning about producing and recording with on-screen editing software. Putting the right songs in order to set the right vibe became the norm and commanded the reputation for being the ever-appropriate deejay. In order to fully pursue a career in the music industry, he has since retired as a barber and currently, you can find him performing around St. Louis at numerous places including a weekly spin at Posh, an upscale cigar bar, bi-weekly appearances at The Delmar Lounge as part of The Lamar Harris Quintet, and monthly at Urban Lounge for "Soul Safari: an adventure in grooves from around the globe", as well as "Sista Speak', an open mic, held at Cicero's with SC3.Enoch, formerly known as DJ Knock Knock on the 1s and 2s, IS now Real, and just released his first E.P. called "Enochulated" which includes performances by Lamar Harris, Tracy Mitchell, Marcus Leonard and 'Chi-town's finest' DJ Snooze! On the event horizon is KNOCradio.dj, a multimedia site for podcasts, short films, apparel, and prints. "Knocturnal Sunshine, acidafrobossabrokensoul", the syndicated podcast, featuring Soul, Acid Jazz, alternative Hip Hop and Lounge, got its start with Flowink's Music Lounge and is now hosted at wwww.knocradio.podomatic.com.His rap sheet includes a number of accomplishments, as he has been the resident deejay for Legacy Books and Cafe's "SpokenWordGroove" since 2001 and only recently been succeeded by his "Soulition" collective comrade DJ Willpower. He was the musical selector for "Love Jones", another spoken word open mic voted Best Monthly Poetry Event by The St. Louis Americans Best of Poll for 2002, sponsored by The Foundation, held every first Sunday of the month at the Bistro. The Foundation, appropriately titled, was the same organization that aided in catapulting his star-like status garnered up for having the 'Best Weekly Summer Event' in 2002 as voted by The St. Louis American for "Cosmopolitan Thursdays". Once held at Churchill's Fine Cigar Bar, this event was discontinued due to its enormous popularity and success. He opened up for ?uestlove of The Roots for The Foundations 'Red Carpet Series' at Rue 13 in August of 2002. By February 2003 he was setting the tone for 'Flow Nabru', put on by The Flow Ink and Schmoo Creative, featuring Neo-soul artists Donnie and Julie Dexter and also starring The Hot House Sessions and Isis Jones at Club Rolisas. He continued in 2004 to warm up the atmosphere for several artists such as Dwele, Musiq Soulchild and Vivian Green, Kindred the Family Soul and Floetry, Anthony Hamilton and Eric Roberson. His film credits include starring in, co-writing and co-producing an independent film "Jihad, the Struggle Within", which started out as a short class project but went on to be a feature length official selection in the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase in 2001. Enoch's 2004 successes stemmed from acting as the shadow silhouette in AOANH's "Raver, Jinn and the Dawn". He went on to co-produce and make a brief cameo in a short film called "Zignal to Noiz" which was an official selection in The St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase and the St. Louis International Film Festival. In 2005 as part of the 48 Hour Film Project he provided the score for a short film, titled "Masterpiece", and... "Wreck Conciliation", a Romantic comedy/Silent film, done as part of the 48 Hour Film Project 2006, was co-produced, co-directed and scored by Enoch. He also narrated and provided score material for a short called "My Winning Year", made for The National Film Challenge 2005, and directed by Kenny Kinds. This film won an award for 'Best Use of a Prop' in the Central Time Zone. Another film, called "Doggone" won "Best Surprise Ending" for the same competition in 2006, also directed by Kinds and with Enoch appearing in a cameo, providing a score track, and serving as location manager and co-producer. He is the co-producer the soon-to-be on tour documentary called "The Hunger", and appears in Bohoflow Productions' "Ruzzian Roulette", a music video and feature film on the topic of HIV which won the award for 'Best Innovative/Experimental Film' as part of the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase 2007 and coming to a festival near you. The end? Probably not.In the meantime check out “Knocturnal Sunshine” ..This profile was edited with Space codes - Editor MySpace HELP Profile Help!
