John "Crawlin' Snake" Mac y Los Fashionistas

I'm the next dead blues guy

About Me

In the tradition of the Blues, John "Crawlin' Snake" Mac pays homage to the masters. In the mold of musicians from Robert Johnson to Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, Robert Nighthawk, Hank Williams, and George Jones. He has a strong command of the idiom and with the likes of Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, and Jimi Hendryx, he weaves a thread through the rich tapestry that is the Blues and brings a wide diversity to the genre.Among his credits outside the Blues community, Mac has worked with punk master Richard Hell on his album, "Destiny Street", writing and performing with the cult rocker Nona Hendryx, Jazz Fusion Keyboardist Larry Young, and various projects with Robert Quine and Brian Eno as well as Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads.Although Mac's attachment to the masters is evident, he continues to bring his own individuality to the table, as evidenced by the original compositions on his CDs, "End O' Time Blues" and "Dr. Doom". The strength in his music is the respect for the form and the infusion of his own personality. But to truly appreciate his abilities, he must be see in his favorite element - LIVE!With his new project underway, 4 full albums of new material, and a weekly gigs at Tazza and Lot 401 in Providence, RI, the John Mac show is ready to entertain. Enough credit cannot be given to his band's most recent encarnation as well...They are simply the tightest, funkiest and most well dressed band around. You've got to see it to believe it.
