The Marvelous Ones....

About Me

Hailing from Georgia, one of Atlanta's best kept secrets is continuously raising eyebrows throughout the Southeast. With their eclectic but naturally sounding brand of Hip-hop music, this group is on it's way to do some major things soon. Ebon Rrain, Atmos, and SunNovah are three mind blowing lyricists, who not only bring masterful witticisms, street journalism, and storytelling to the mic, but they are also quite skillful on a musical level; With each of lyricists also sharing the load in creating the music on which they lay their rhymes over. Each MC is very gifted in their own right. Their styles are a stark contrast from one another; but the lyricist manage to complement each other effortlessly due to years of brotherhood and chemistry. SunNovah (Dashill Smith) is known as the "Enforcer" of the group. He takes command of any freestyle session with his booming voice and his no-nonsense flow. Whenever there is a battle going on, he's the one that shuts it down. In freestyles, he can sling mind blowing rhymes that often compete with some of the most classic hip-hop quotables. Or he can tell stories, or spit wisdom with the sternness of a grandfather. But either way, he is one fierce lyricist. Not to mention, he is a fierce trumpet player! He's been seen on stages playing with several jazz greats, such as Roy Hargrove, Russell Gunn, David Sanchez, and others. He has also graced the stages of several major jazz festivals of the world.Ebon Rrain (Neal Ghant) is the abstract storyteller. He has a compelling delivery that draws the listener into his often introspective lyrics. He has the knack for delivering lines that make you listen 19 times before getting the full meaning of it. He often gives the listener some food for thought, but he can get downright nasty when it comes to battling! One will hear him using a variety of adventurous references and playful phrases to get his point across. He is also a fine actor, as he is highly sought after in Atlanta's theatrical scene. Atmos (Mark Stephens) Is the Southern Linguist. He tends to bring a middle ground between SunNovah's "Shoot From the Hip" style, and Ebon Rrain's "Edgar Allen Poe" abstractions. Atmos or "Moh" as his companions often call him, delivers with an unforced, laid-back, confidence that is indicative of his Southern Roots. There is a street sensibility to his rhymes which often makes references to those "dirty" things in life that we don't like to hear, but he sure doesn't mind telling you! "Moh" would rather make a witty comment, or a clever reminder to "keep your head on straight", than attack you with scathing words. But he will if he has to! And he can do it with the best of em. He is also a wonderful drummer, as he is responsible for the invigorating pulses that you will hear on their upcoming Album. Both he and SunNovah share the bulk of the musical creativity. As Novah lays down the foundation with fine keyboard work, dazzling horn lines, and sound embellishments. Atmos Handles the bulk of the recording engineering. While Rrain helps to fine tune those important details. The Three Mc's met each other while attending a Middle School in Fairburn, GA. Already in love with the world of hip-hop and instrumental music, the three became involved in a nine member group (Six Rappers, Three Musicians) who would compete in, and eventually win the school talent show. The group was short lived however, and while all went their separate ways, SunNovah, Atmos, and Ebon Rrain would remain great friends; eventually forming the group "Phace Oricalz" while attending a performing arts High School in East Point, GA. They have remained together since. Throughout this time, the three were involved in a powerful theater company called The Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble of Atlanta. While under the direction of the great Freddie Hendricks they were able to freely hone their crafts as actors, emcees, and musicians; effectively being able to explore nearly all facets of the performing arts. Through this experience as teenagers, the Oricalz developed their dynamic stage presence and an almost limitless flow of creativity. Although brief hiatuses have delayed their entry into the mainstream of music, this powerful group with their compelling lyrics and exhilarating performances, seem to be on a sure road of unlimited success. Don't forget to check our blog for personal backstage stories and humorous, true, and informative show reviews.. (Our Shows of course.) Also SunNovah will posting weekly excerpts of his yet to be released, epic literary documentary "The Saga Of the Sages." This is an unedited, freewheeling memoir of the life and times of the legendary Phace Oricalz as told by SunNoh. However, the focal point of this documentary will be the legendary freestyle tapes, which Phace Oricalz recorded between 1994 and 2004. You will get to read quotes from magnificent freestyle verses, humorous tales, the stories behind the tapes and the songs, and an indept look into the growing up years of the Oracular Three. You don't wanna miss a single article!!!
