Music for the sake of... Music

About Me

i've been blessed in a short period of time to intersect paths with numerous musicians of stripe -- and would be quite content if this audio and its accompanying experiences spanned several years. most recently I've been performing and recording a far-flung flavor of styles ranging Soul, R&B, jazz, reggae/dub and afro-beat throughout San Francisco where I have had the good fortune to perform alongside Jimmy Sancious, Joanna DeJarnett, Robbie MacGregor, Edna Love, Jose Simioni, Bryan Harrison, Michael Mattias, Rado Randriamamojy, Rob Broderick, Brendin Blaha, Zach Hash, Michael Lee, and Afro-Beat artist Yacouba Diarra. I am most excited about recent collaborations with up and coming producer/engineer Kyle Lesley and the abundance of talent he seems to be surrounded by: Miriam Speyer and Rocky Ramirez, two very promising artists with whom I've been fortunate enough to record for (just uploaded Rocky's "What She's Missing" and recently added "Hear It From You" by Miriam).
Tracks 3-4-5-6, despite their stylistic differences, have three common themes:
-all live
-all impromptu
-all from the first half of 2008
More than anything else I enjoy performing live as much as possible -- and in a city rife with as many musicians and venues as San Francisco, there is no shortage of possibilities. A big thank-you goes out to Johnny Wood. for various reasons -- paramount among them the theft of my beloved fretless Jazz Bass -- I hadn't picked up a bass guitar for more than a moment or two in close to five years (since the Joe Strummer Tribute 3/15/03). During that time I'd been noodling around on an acoustic guitar until Johnny told me that the world's full of shitty guitarists/not enough bassists. At the risk of hyperbolizing, 2008 so far has been an extraordinary time for me musically. I can't remember exactly what the hell I did during that interval when I wasn't playing bass.
Each new week is an added dimension to my musical journey. Please contact me for live and tracked session work; I also provide bass instruction for beginner to intermediate-level bassists in San Francisco.
