My name is Clay Bailar. I am a father, son, entrepreneur, best friend, student and little league coach. My most important job is that of father to my son who is 11 years old and is the love of my life. Fatherhood is my most important responsibility.
I was born in Topeka, Kansas as an only child. My father traveled most of the week with his job as a management consultant. Normally, he would come home on Friday nights and would have to leave to go back to work on Sunday afternoon. My mom worked as a secretary for the Goodyear tire plant. My generation was one of the first to be a latchkey kid.
In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, in order to make ends meet, many families needed both parents to work because of the economy. Unfortunately, that meant I was raised by babysitters until I was about 8 years old. After that, my parents felt like I was old enough to take care of myself after school, until my mom got home around 6:00PM When I was twelve, my parents and I picked up and moved to Miami Beach Florida. My dad still had to travel for his job and my mom began working even longer hours. This is when my troubles began. Shortly after we moved to Florida, I began smoking cigarettes. By the time I turned thirteen, I was smoking pot and by the time I was fifteen I was doing hard drugs. At this point in my life, I also began getting in trouble with the police. For the most part, it was nothing major, just being in the wrong place, at the wrong time. I am not trying to place the blame on my parents, as they were simply doing what they needed to do in order to make ends meet. The older I become the better understanding of this I have.
As a father, I began following in my own father’s footsteps. I was arriving home in time to tuck my son in. And although I made time to coach his Little League Baseball, this was about all of the time I made for him. Time flew by quickly and before I knew it, my son was nine years old. At this time, his mother and I decided to go our separate ways, mainly because I was never home.
For about a year and a half, we went through an extremely nasty custody battle. Because of my work hours, my visitation was almost limited to every other weekend. Then and there, I made up my mind to begin working less and start working smarter.
The second responsibility I have is to be a best friend. I enjoy being around people and helping them any way I can. Unfortunately, because of my work schedule, my interaction with others was limited to my co-workers and parents who were at the Little League events. Sorry to say, for me that was not enough. I live by the great words of Zig Zigler “You can have anything in life you want, as long as you help others get what they want.”
My third and equally important responsibility is being a full time student. I am 48 years old and have learned more in the past year of my life, than I ever did attending a formal school. This is simply because I have had the time to actually learn now. I have never been afraid of work. I have done everything from working with Home Land Security, through the Department of Energy at the Nevada test site to being a blackjack and crap dealer on the strip here in Las Vegas.
One of my really good friends has been involved with a home based business for quite some time and has been quite successful with it. As a result of his success, I thought I would give it a try. Since he has been in the business for quite some time, he tried to teach me the old school technique with the three feet rule, a list of 200 friends and cold calling from various leads. Before long, my friends were avoiding my calls. If they did pick up, they would tell me to get in touch with them after I had done something with the business. I attempted to buy leads for $1, $2 and even $5. Unfortunately, all I ever got was “PLEASE QUIT CALLING ME.” This is when I turned to surfing the web. I signed up for all kinds of home based business courses, ranging in price from $14.95 to $49.95 and more. Although the courses helped a little, I mainly became good at entering my credit card number. As I mentioned before, I am a full time student as well as pouring myself completely into my business. Through all of my research, I kept coming across a man named Val Smyth. This is when I went on a quest to find out exactly who he was and why so many people were talking about him. What I found was that he assembled a network of who’s who in network marketing, as well as being the creator and founder of Mentors in Motion Online Magazine. In general, he is a marketing genius. I continued my search and learned how to get in touch with Mr. Smyth through a letter that expressed my desires to learn from the best. Within hours, he replied back. One of the first questions he asked me was what was my dedication level in becoming a true professional in the business was. He asked this because he had began a program using the benefits of Web 2.0 and relationship marketing. He was only willing to work with people who had a true desire and passion to develop their skills creating an income through the Internet. He was also willing to teach me how to work from home, using cutting edge tactics and skills that are seemingly unknown to the home based business community. I am amazed at how much he has taught him. I have learned the True Art & Science of Building a Business using Web 2.0 and relationship marketing to generate prospects and leads without evening spending a dime. You too can use the system to help promote just about any type of business. He has worked with, just to name a few; Home based businesses, MLM Leaders, Real Estate Agents, Travel Agents, Mortgage Consultants, Models, Sales People, Life Success Consultants, Business Owners, Financial Planners, Life Coaches. That Wanted To Leverage Technology To Take Their Business To The Next Level...
