A ruckus of scruff, a friend to you and your dog, a salty groove topped with smooth vocals. Friendly Yen - Men among men.
“Friendly Yen are reminiscent of Lior in terms of their lead vocalist. He can do intricate vocal runs with perfect pitch. The trio is one of the most impressive in Canberra, the drummer one of those rarities who “plays music†as opposed to simply “playing drumsâ€.†– F Schadenfreude Fasterlouder.com.au
For something that he has loved all his life, Friendly Jeff was a relatively late bloomer to the life of music. After a few changes of scenery and a neither here nor there lifestyle, he returned to his home town to pursue his ideals as a musician.
Rowdy pubs and late night solo shows gave him a few runs on the board before enlisting the help of his long time friend, Serious Jason, and Friendly Pat to bolster his live performance - rarely has this been done before.
“Passers by may have been forgiven for thinking Friendly Yen were the main act as an encore chant erupted for the boys†– Danikan Inthemix.com.au
After borrowing bits and pieces from the various musical genres the boys have admired over the years, Friendly Yen have climbed the ladder to the top of the roof, where they can see most of Canberra. They continue to work hard on being an entertaining band, and this is reflected in their live shows.
A hard earned thirst needs a best friend – and the best is Friendly Yen.
