Pour me a double, here comes trouble...

About Me

.... .. .. DISCLAIMER: I will not read unsolicited manuscripts. Please do not send messages requesting that I look at your manuscript. I will no longer respond to these. I'm sorry, it is nothing personal, but I simply do not have the time. I will, however, drink unsolicited booze.
My name is Bryan Smith. I write mass market horror novels for Leisure Books.
Bibliography to date:House Of Blood (Leisure Books, 2004)Deathbringer (Leisure Books, 2006)The Freakshow (Leisure Books, 2007)Queen Of Blood (Leisure Books, 2008)Soultaker (coming from Leisure in Feb. 2009)Depraved (coming from Leisure, pub date TBA)
Prior to the books listed above, Undaunted Press published my chapbooks Grimm Awakening and Under The Skin, both now long out of print.
I live in Tennessee with my lovely wife Rachael. We have pets galore. I like loud rock and roll music and dark beer. My ultimate goal is total world domination. Failing that, another beer will suffice.
Thunderstorm Books will release a new limited edition hardcover version of House of Blood in 2008. For details and pre-order information go here: http://www.thunderstormbooks.com/smith.html

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

.. .. Stephen King. Why? Because he's the main reason I'm doing what I'm doing with my life. ..

Music:

.. ..Loud, sleazy rock and roll. Glam. Punk. Psychobilly. Horror rock. Metal. Iggy and the Stooges, Guns N' Roses, the Cramps, Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction, Crystal Pistol, the Backyard Babies, Hellacopters, Betty Blowtorch, Circus of Power, New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders, Faster Pussycat, L7, the Erotics, Creeping Cruds, Wednesday 13, Hanoi Rocks, Supersuckers, AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, the Replacements, Ramones, Misfits, American Dog, Dead Boys, Lords of the New Church, Motley Crue, Frankenstein Drag Queens, Junkyard, Generation X, Star Star, Supagroup, Sea Hags, Raging Slab, Smashed Gladys, Silvertide, Motochrist, Dogs D'Amour, Electric Frankenstein, Hardcore Superstar, 69 Eyes, Gunfire Dance. Also some old death rock like Christian Death, 45 Grave, Alien Sex Fiend, Electric Hellfire Club, etc. .. ..

Movies:

.. .. I like movies that are scary and shocking, or silly and irreverent. I do not like "feel good" movies, or faux-sincere movies ostensibly intended to enrich the human experience (but are really just blatant Oscar ploys). I like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Sin City, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, A Clockwork Orange, Monty Python's Life of Brian, Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Re-Animator, From Beyond, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead (both versions), Day of the Dead, Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, True Romance, Halloween I & II, ALL of the Friday the 13TH movies Return of the Living Dead, Tromeo and Juliet, Kill Bill, Shaun of the Dead, Chained Heat I & II, Reform School Girls, Hellhole, Decline of Western Civilization II: The Metal Years, River's Edge, Natural Born Killers, Heathers, Raising Arizona, the first two Cheech and Chong movies, South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, Orgazmo, Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and a shitload of others. ..

Television:

.. .. LOST, MST3K, Doctor Who, South Park, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, Family Guy, and lots of Britcoms, including Father Ted, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, The Office, The Thin Blue Line, Are You Being Served?, Spaced, Black Books, etc. ..

Books:

.. .. I write horror professionally, so most of my favorites, unsurprisingly, are horror. But I do like some mainstream fiction, as well as some mystery/noir. Some favorites include The Stand by Stephen King, The Shining by SK, The Dead Zone by SK, 'Salem's Lot by SK, The Dark Tower by SK, Off Season by Jack Ketchum, Coven by Edward Lee, Succubi by Edward Lee, Nightlife by Brian Hodge, Dark Advent by BH, Darker Saints by BH, Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite, The Hellfire Club by Peter Straub, The Throat by PS, Mystery by PS, The Talisman by SK and PS, The Light At The End by John Skipp and Craig Spector, everything else by Skipp and Spector, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson, most things from the Hard Case Crime line, Richard S. Prather's Shell Scott books, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, The Water-Method Man by John Irving, Swag by Elmore Leonard, practically everything else by EL, the 87th Precinct series by Ed McBain, most everything by Donald Westlake, Tim Dorsey, Duane Swiercyznski, Victor Gischler, and Carl Hiaasen. The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy books by Douglas Adams, the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, and most of Christopher Moore's books, especially Bloodsucking Fiends and Island of the Sequined Love Nun. ..
