I'm just sayin'.

About Me

To make a long story short, my name's Rachael and I am a pretty average thirty-something.
If you want me to make a short story long, I will try to oblige you.
I live a quiet life in Nashville, Tennessee. My husband of 7 years--acclaimed horror author Bryan Smith--and I live in the Hillsboro Village neighborhood. From my front yard I can see Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities. I love our fun and hip, but overly gentrified, neighborhood. We live in an apartment building so old that is has boarded up coal chutes. It is so full of character. Unfortunately, it is also full of hair from our 4 cats and 2 dogs.
I retired in 2006, so I have a lot of free time. I'm basically a stay at home mom, except I don't have children.
If you found your way here from Bryan's page, welcome. I am always happy to make new friends, but you should know that he and I have very divergent tastes. I cannot stand horror, most loud rock and roll, and dark beer makes me gag. I tend more towards folk music, coffee and highbrow entertainment. However, any friend of Bry's is a friend of mine.
If you have any questions, you can always ask.
You can also find me on Pogo as fleur325.

First, my literary cred. I have read Ulysses (hated it), as well as War and Peace (loved it). I will read most anything, except postmodern literature, which I abhor. I enjoy general literature, classic literature, mysteries, young adult and children's literature, memoirs, historical non-fiction, and more.
Some series I enjoy are:Rumpole by John Mortimer, Goldy Bear/Schultz by Diane Mott Davidson, The Rabbi Who by Harry Kemelman, Monsieur Pamplemousse by Michael Bond, Staggerford by Jon Hassler, Discworld by Terry Pratchett, Undead by MaryJanice Davidson. Some titles I can't stop recommending: The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, Staggerford by Jon Hassler.
As for what I will read next? Well, my to be read stack is infinite. Wrap your head around that.
*~Which Neil Gaiman book are you?~*
You are American Gods! You are mysterious, intelligent, and creative. To the rest of the world you may seem a little standoffish, but really youre just a quiet person. Youre sort of bookish and are intrigued by mythology and fairy tales. You might be Wiccan or Pagan, either that or youre unreligious. You have a sarcastic sense of humor and are the kind of person people like to talk to because youre such a good listener.
