On Oct. 14, a busload from Curves of Lakeville will charge into Boston with thousands of dollars in tow to take part in the American Cancer Society’s 14th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
Curves manager Tracy Powers, 35, didn’t have to look to an older generation for inspiration. Her cousin, Jennifer Reeves, was only 28 when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease.
Taking no chances with her life, the stunning brunette had both breasts removed. She is a 4-year survivor and she is fighting mad. Reeves’ says cancer has robbed her of her loved ones, her breasts and her innocence, but not her courage.
“With all that it has taken from me, what cancer has inadvertently left in its wake is the strength to move mountains, and I plan on doing just that,†says Reeves.
“I am just in the beginning stages of taking this fight head on and I WILL make a difference. I was spared for a reason, this is my calling. I will go down fighting until my very last breath.â€
“Jennifer is the most absolutely amazing person I have ever known,†Powers said.
MY AMAZING FRIEND MIKE WINGO HELPED RAISE MILLIONS FOR SUSAN G. KOMEN. MIKE DEDICATED HIS SEATTLE SERVICE IN MY HONOR. IT BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES ANYTIME I READ IT.
MANY THANKS TO FOUR VERY SPECIAL YOUNG WOMEN. ALISON, DANIELLE, EMILEE AND TORI. I AM HONORED TO BE INCLUDED ON THEIR "WHY WE WALK" SHIRTS AMONG SEVERAL OTHER AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL SURVIVORS.
