I was diagnosed 4 years ago with breast cancer ( Invasive (infiltrating) ductal carcinoma (IDC)) when I was 19. That was such a "unique" expereince. Looking back, I see maybe it happened to me, because deep down, I am stronger then I think, and maybe I can help carry women through what I went through. Some days I get down and have the "why me", but then I think off all the lives I have touched and it re-motivates my passion to share my story and spread awareness. While Breast Cancer at 19 is VERY rare, it can and does happen! My full story is posted in my blog titled "Cancer" if you care to read. It was quiet an ordeal.

I recently found out that due to my cancer and treatments that I may not be able to have children. I have always wanted to have a family so this is a double whammy. It was bad enough to have Breast Cancer at such a young age (in a way you feel like you lose part of your womanhood) and then to find out you may not be able to have children just makes me feel that much more inadequate

"Healing is not about forgetting. It is about adapting to the changes, transforming the pain into something meaningful, and reconciling with that which seems impossible to forget."
Ok, so I don't know if there is an official Breast Cancer survivor flower, but I have decided this is mine! Pink Calla Lily. I chose this because of it's elegance, strength, beauty and ofcourse PINK! :o)
The Breast Cancer Site
http://www.thebreastcancersite.com
I have been doing this for about 5 years. You just go to there site and sign up to be a member. Everyday they send a reminder email, you click on the link and it will register for the day. I do it from both my home and my work computer.
Click on The Breast Cancer site daily so they can meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "donating a mammogram" for free (pink window in the middle). This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.
I am also a part of the "Wall of Hope"
Wall of Hope Breast Cancer Survivors' Project The dream of more than 1,500 breast cancer survivors in California is to see a mile of breast cancer survivors pictures in Washington, D. C. The exhibit is called the Mile of Survival, and will carry more than 37,000 portraits of survivors of breast cancer from all over the U.S. www.wallofhope.org
A POEM FOR CANCER SURVIVORS!
Victim or Survivor?
Being a Victim is a state of body. Being a Survivor is a state of mind.
A Victim fears their hair falling out from chemotherapy. A Survivor knows bald is beautiful.
A Victim knows about feeling down. A Survivor knows feeling down is okay.
A Victim is amazed at all the tears. A Survivor never leaves home without Kleenex.
A Victim goes to 'see' a doctor. A Survivor 'consults' with his or her physician.
A Victim gets caught in despair. A Survivor prays a lot.
A Victim feels helpless. A Survivor says 'thanks' with dignity and grace.
A Victim enjoys a good laugh. A Survivor LOVES one.
From the moment we are diagnosed with cancer, we are victims.
We must CHOOSE to be SURVIVORS.
