Here you hear a collection of songs that I have written, had a part in, or just love, and which keep the memory of Igor alive in my ears as well as my heart. May they do the same for you!
First up is a living-room recording of "Little Bird", a song I've written a while ago; it reflects my roots in the more traditional folk music (only it is much shorter!)
Then there is "Way beyond the blue" from a demo recorded by my band Gospel Unlimited in December 2006.
In September 2007 the blues duo 1A Blues - Igor Flach and "Bluesrudy" Uwe Haase recorded their second CD and invited me to sing a part on a couple of tracks. "Cajun Moon" is the only track where Igor sings lead and plays guitar in addition to the harp. I'm the female voice (duh!) and Bluesrudy plays Dobro and Percussion. "Goin' down the road" is Bluesrudy and me on vocals, Rudy also on everything else but harp (which is obviously played by Igor).
Next up is "Will the circle be unbroken", my favourite track from the first and so far only CD by Gospel Unlimited "A change is gonna come", recorded in 1999. Of course, Igor is heard on harp, whereas you'll have to prick up your ears to make me out in the background of the chorus. Walter Kussmaul is the lead vocalist here.
And finally, "Spaghetti Hair" is my favourite song from the album "Pidgin Lovesongs" by FBeat, Igor's duo with Stefan "Strahli" Strahl.

It is the saddest thing when you have to add a good friend and huge influence in your life and music to the heroes gone before their time. Igor Flach was an incredible harp player, his style of playing was not only unique, but to me remains unmatched in feeling, musicality, and sound. His vocal style was also unique - never in time, but somehow always on the mark. He gave every song his special flavor and tried to encourage me - who is used to always singing precisely in time - to sing free lines. In the studio, when I was recording my part for Cajun Moon, he said that he had sung as straight as he could, so I wouldn't have such a difficult time trying to match my part to his. Everytime I hear a blues song, or a country song, or a folk or rock 'n roll song, I can hear what it would have sounded like if Igor had played his harp and sung. I hope I will never forget that, or anything else Igor has given and done for me. He is painfully missed.

Music:
I have two absolute musical heroes, both unfortunately gone before their (and my) time: Sam Cooke and Eva Cassidy.
Sam's music has the power to cheer me up when I'm sad, and make me feel even better when I already feel good. His voice and vocal style are amazing, and he makes the cheesiest songs sound not cheesy at all. From his Soul Stirrers-days my favourite has got to be "Were you there", a song that always sends chills up and down my spine.
And Eva - her incredible interpretations just bring the tears to my eyes. The way she sang everything from blues and soul to gospel, country, and folk with such ease and sincerity just leaves me at awe. And I wish I could play guitar like that.
As for living artist :), check out my Friends!
Television:
Dr. House and anything I come across when channel-surfing - I watch way too much TV.
Books:
Where do I start?
The Lord of the Rings, obviously.
I love fairy tales of all sorts from all cultures.
Carin Svensson's "Kanonväder" was a great read.
Some of my favourite authors are Jeffrey Eugenides, John Steinbeck, Bill Bryson, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Stefan Zweig, Walter Moers (Hildegunst von Mythenmetz :))...
Oh, and I have to mention the poetry by Thomas Hood. How could I not love a poet who wrote a piece called " Fair Ines "? :)
