Sara Em

Sara Em is 31 years old and has been making her own music for more than 10 years. She was brought up in a christian home, and the family sang a lot together in church
(pentecostal).
In her twenties Sara Em came out as gay, and struggled for several years with her identity and perception of God and what he was thinking of her being a lesbian. These years were very painful, and Sara Em wrote a lot of lyrics and music during this time where she expressed her feeling of exclusion from the church and longing for God.
If you talk with Sara Em today, she will tell you that she has landed in the feeling and conviction that God loves her - not in spite of her being a lesbian, but because she is herself. Exactly as God made her.
Sara Em writes both lyrics and music. Some people describe it as Pop/Rock with a lot of emotions. She takes her inspiration from a wide spectrum of musicians, but if she had to pick one of special importance she would say Tori Amos.
