About Me

Emilia de Poret is the first Swedish artist to have an album produced by hit-maker Arnthor Birgisson. Arnthor is the producer behind some of the latest hits of Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Enrique Iglesias and Shane Ward, amongst others. Arnthor also is part of Max Martin’s production team, in whose Maratone Studio Emilia’s album is recorded and produced. The first single from Emilia’s forthcoming album is “I Can”, which is being launched in the fall of 2007. The album, which already is attracting international interest, is scheduled to be launched in early 2008 in Sweden.
Arnthor and Emilia happen to be childhood friends, having both attended the same music school in Stockholm. After having gone their separate ways in the music business, they both thought the time was right to start working on a common project.
-“Emilia and I started recording demos in our basement when we where in our early teens. At the time, we were listening to a lot of R&B, soul and rhythmic hip-hop. A lots of these influences can be found on Emilia’s new album”, says songwriter and producer Arnthor Birgisson, who adds, “the album has clear influences from early-90s pop, from Madonna and Janet Jackson, a melodic and catchy sound enticing you to hit the dance floor”.
The first single from Emilia’s new album is “I Can”.
-“I Can” very much summarizes the feeling of the whole album: an irresistible feel-good factor”, says Emilia, who goes on to deliver an anecdote she feels expresses the feeling one gets from the track, telling how she managed to deliver one of her first demos to no less than Stevie Wonder: “ When Stevie was in Sweden to receive the Polar Music Prize and I managed to get to his hotel suite and deliver my demo to him in person, getting security to believe I actually was delivering an official Polar Prize document”, adding, “this is the feeling one gets from “I Can”, if you are up for it, nothing can stop you”.
Emilia has unique range as a singer, which is reflected in her forthcoming album, where deeper, more personal ballads can be found amongst high tempo clubby tunes. A real party album, with softer undertones. -“It is a high-energy album, not unlike a sample of Emilia’s whole personality. Her intensity and positive attitude is embedded in some more melancholic and deeper feelings”, says Arnthor.
Musically speaking, the album mixes high-tech with classic beats. Arnthor has sampled Emilia’s voice and breathing instead of instruments. The music is processed in way that fuses electronic sounds with voice and music. On the track “Sing My Song”, Arnthor has, for example, introduced a robotized effect to Emilia’s voice.
-“High-tech production is my trademark”, says Arnthor, “focusing on voice production alone can be boredom-inducing. Emilia’s voice is incredibly easy to work on, it is like a musical instrument, sure in its tune, and one has almost endless possibilities to play with, arrange and modify it. Emilia is both classic and ultra-modern in her personality, which is reflected in the sound we have created together”.
