Niki Economou is an emotional singer/songwriter who creates melodic pop rock. Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Niki grew up in an environment surrounded by music, she attended the school choir and the school chamber choir. At the age of 7 she began her piano lessons, she was fascinated by the creative world of music. At school she took part and performed on stage for various occasions. She took part in Piano concerts. It was the inner feeling of wanting to communicate which made this area seem very intriguing Inspite of her love of music Niki’s ambitions inspired her to pursue to obtain a university degree. She attended University of Sheffield, England where she graduated with honours in Business Management. While studying, her love for music grew stronger….a hidden passion, a hidden inner feeling of self expression…So she decided to learn the guitar as well to be able to accompany her voice..Thanasis Papakostantinou first heard Niki sing in Larissa, he brought her into contact with Ntora Rizou of Lyra company. After listening to Niki, Ntora Rizou brought her into contact with Loudovikos ton Anogeion which she later sang with in Thessaloniki. Following this she then sang with Dimitris Zervoudakis and went on tour with the band, she sung in Athens at the “Theatro Braxon” (Byronas), “METRO” (Gkizi), thessaloniki (“Idrogios) Trikala “(Aparxes)” and in Larissa (“MYLOS”). After completing her studies in Thessaloniki she moved to Athens where she decided to first find work in the field she had studied not wanting to be a burden to her family….and then to focus on her love for music..While working in the pharmaceutical company she also sang with Giorgos Dimitriadis which she really enjoyed as Giorgos Dimitriadis is a real inspiration.After the departure of her uncle Dimitri, she found she had the ability to write lyrics too ….she wanted to express her feelings.. she wrote a song dedicated to him… and with the help of her very close friend and music arranger Diamandis Karagiannakidis..its was then that she realized that, that her love for music was what she wanted to focus on….that was what she wanted to do…. After seeing the dreamshow some of Nikis friends put her name for the contest..following a phone call by the production company…of which Niki wasn’t aware of, but nonetheless she decided that it felt that it was something she had to do…..there she was named the “favorit” and the critics there resembled her to the Greek Joan Byers…cranberries style…. Each of Niki’s songs stem from her own personal experiences and the lives of the people close to her..
