I am a musician. I produce records, write songs, play piano, program and synthesize rhythms, write arrangements for strings and record ambient soundtracks. If you've listened to the radio, watched television, or been to the movies in the last few years, chances are you've heard something I've done. I work on my own projects and I help others with theirs. I'm passionate about sounds- sounds that are unique, sounds that are crisp and clean, sounds that are warm and smooth, sounds that are right for the given context. I love the combination of synthetic and real, of new and old.
What is music to me? Music is sound that demands an emotional or intellectual response. Music makes you stop and think, or listen, or laugh, or cry. It helps you overcome the present or relive the past. Music is a perfect melody, a beautiful tone, a haunting voice. It is notes or numbers on a page brought to life by an expert hand. It is a wonderful accident. It is the sound of two-year old voice or the voice of a 100 year-old cello. Music is digital; it is analogue. It is binary code; it is magnetized metal. It is the sound of an oscillating filter or an overdriven amp. It is a sound so fragile that you hold your breath to listen, a sound so heavy you feel it hit you. Music is a moment, a sound, a rhythm, that lodges so deeply in your heart that you cannot escape it. Music can divide, it can restore. It can break down or heal. It transcends language.
