Influences: This artist is influenced by the thousands of movies he's watched, as well as the impossible ringing in his ears and the small spider monkey who lives in his motor car. One might be led to the supposition that a spider monkey would impair the safety of any given transit, when in fact the little bugger is quite versed in the rules of the road and is an expeditious and witty conversationalist.
Sounds Like: I believe that no man is an island, no matter how much Paul Simon says he is. You should listen to his early stuff “before the fameâ€. It was basically pre-pubescent Elvis. It was as though Paul Simon was only concerned with applying an extremely thin coat of art over the widest possible area. From the current standpoint, such a sentence would be viewed oxymoronic. For me, praise of his life-work comes as a result of a perpetually trialed dedication to what he believed was beautiful; in respect of, in recognition of, but not made BECAUSE of the artists he admired and their influence on him. I am no creative genius like Paul Simon. I draw this parallel because I realize that I am not a rock, I am not an island. My books and my poetry will not protect me.
