Granger T. Simmons is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At an early age he developed a love for writing poetry. The poems were prayers that later became songs that he would sing unto God. Growing up, Granger hid behind a well developed falsetto voice. At the age of 12, while singing in his house, God spoke to him and instructed him to use the voice that He had given to him, and to stop hiding behind the falsetto voice. After that day Granger completely lost his ability to sing falsetto, so he had no choice but to develop his voice. As the months went on, Granger began to exercise his gift, and within that same year God restored Grangers falsetto to him. Even though his voice was restored he did not sing in front of anyone until his senior year of high school.Odetta Barbara Eila Lee, born and raised in Finland, knew from a very early age that she wanted to become a singer. She put on shows with her friends and sang to relatives. Odetta was also a part of many singing groups, gospel choirs, as well as musicals. After giving her life to Jesus at the age of 13, Odetta decided she was going to dedicate her gift of singing completely to God. Reaching out to people and sharing the love of God through song became her passion. Her dream had always been to move to the United States someday, and through much prayer and thanksgiving unto God her dream came true in 2001 after graduating from high school.Granger and Odetta first met at Brown University in August of 2002. Odetta had just arrived on campus as a freshman, and spent her first night in a dorm, when suddenly the following morning she woke up to someone singing Whitney Houston's "I will always love you" in the shower. As she walked down the hallway, she realized it was coming from the mens bathroom. Wanting to see who it was, she waited for the person to come out and, needless to say, the "person" singing had been Granger. After introducing themselves to one another, Odetta said, "We need to sing together someday!!". Little did they know that God had brought them to the same school, the same dorm, and the same hall exactly for that reason! God gave Granger and Odetta a specific vision, through which their ministry was birthed. G&O wrote their first songs that school year (2002-2003). Four years later, they are still writing, producing and pursuing the vision. G&O officially started ministering in public in the beginning of 2005. The duo does both performance oriented songs as well as leads worship service at their local church, and whenever it may be requested by others. G&O has ministered at several church services and youth events in New England as well as along the East Coast: Six Flags "Praise in the Park" (Springfield, MA), Blazin' Youth Night (Pawtucket, RI), Cinderella Ball (Cranston, RI), Blazin' Youth Night (Brockton, MA), New Year's Eve Celebration at Liberty Worship Center (Pawtucket, RI), Cry Aloud Spare Not Ministries "Call to Prayer" Conference (Philadelphia, PA), Macedonia U.A.M.E. Appreciation Banquet at the Venus de Milo (Swansea, MA), Gospel Under the Stars (South Toms River,NJ), Altared Youth at Assemblies of God (Worcester, MA), Gospel Rap Revival (Bridgeport, CT), House of God Sunday Service (Bridgeport,CT), and more.G&O is all about seeing God's power manifest through their ministry. The duos songs are inspired by their experiences, thoughts, prayers, but most importantly by Scriptures, and revelation given by the Holy Spirit. The vision of G&O is to reach out to people and see them delivered and healed from bondage by destroying the "fruit" and uprooting the causes of things such as generational curses, addictions, witchcraft, low self-esteem, fear, doubt, self-pity, self-condemnation, religion, false humility, pride, lust, perversion, rejection, and physical illnesses, just to name a few. They realize that it is time for breakthrough and true change in the lives of human beings. This change does not happen by power, nor might, but by the Spirit of the Living God. We all need to keep moving forward and going deeper into the things of God. It is clear to G&O that without the Love, Anointing and Word of God, their message will bear no eternal fruit, so staying connected to the True Vine, the Lord and Savior of mankind, Jesus Christ, is vital. G&O is constantly seeking to glorify God and please Him through a lifestyle of holiness and obedience, so that they may continue to be vessels of God, filled with all the fullness of the Almighty, bearing an overabundance of eternal fruit and becoming more like Him.
