Simple Citizens moves its listeners through an array of organic sounds that are not limited to a specific genre; instead they challenge the audiences by blending up hip-hop, jazz, funk and reggae while using all live instrumentation.The band finally came together in 2001 through mutual friends in Palmdale, CA. As individuals, their musical diversity is what helped lay the foundation of their unique sound. Due to the limitations of a small town, the need to grow musically and culturally is what brought them out of the desert and into the city.Since moving to Los Angeles, Simple Citizens have performed at several well known venues throughout the West Coast such as the House of Blues, Troubadour, Little Temple, Temple Bar, and several college campuses. Currently, they are gaining the attention of LA’s underground hip-hop scene by being featured at events such as the Root Down, Bridges, Boardners and Soul Sessions.
