About Me

Born in Grand Ledge, Michigan, schooled in Michigan and Arizona, lived in various places in the southwest. Write for a pseudo-living, a mix of dweeb and music and political invective/rant. Like noise and skronk and indie and jazz and singer-songwriter music, like authors of the Thomas Pynchon and David Foster Wallace variety.

My Interests

Outdoors, political activism, music, writing.

I'd like to meet:

human beings mostly, though all species welcome.

Music:

Avant-garde, scary-shit strange, power-pop, improvisational jazz, sardonic and inscrutable singer-songwriters. Anything that frightens the horses.

Movies:

Brazil, Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11, Fahrenheit 451, 1900, any of the Godfrey Reggio trilogy

Television:

not much - Daily Show, Colbert Report

Books:

Gravity's Rainbow, Infinite Jest, the Will and Ariel Durant "Civilization" series, Collapse, War and Peace and War (Turchin), Godel Escher Bach, Women Fire and Dangerous Things (Lakoff), Neal Stephenson's "Baroque Cycle" and "Cryptonomicon," any of Thomas Frank's books, anything by Richard Powers.

Heroes:

Noam Chomsky, Medea Benjamin, must be a few others out there...

The only thing of note other than Gilmore Girls reviews that fakejazz.com has carried lately are reviews of two recent Yellow Swans releases.  Good for them.  YS opened for Xiu Xiu in Denver...
