About Me

PLEASE: if you are a fan of the band i work with, are a band i don't know or have a public type profile, please send requests to my music page @ michael kenney .

My Interests

needless to say, music, bigtime. i collect gear (and storage places! ;-)- limited edition marshalls and others, hammond organs, guitars, basses, synths, drums and just about anything else, lol. aside from that: macs, design, photography, cooking, diy (i have a newly rebuilt very cool little dome in the hills of northern cal), technology, in general...

Music:

i said i would probably end up putting the contents of my ipod here. at the risk of being a bore, i think it is the best way to describe myself...all of these people mean a lot to me, and say a lot about who i am. (in ipod alphabetization ;-) a perfect circle, abc, ainjel emme, alanis, altered state, the animals, beach boys (holland!), betty davis, bjork, booker t and the mg's, byrds, cameo, colt/lwed, chris cornell, cream, dalbello(!), david crosby (music is love :-), david sancious, deep purple, double trouble, dream theater, elvin bishop group, elp, enuff z'nuff, follow for now, foo fighters, frankie miller, free, galactic cowboys, glenn hughes(!), go west, gov't. mule, helloween (better than raw!), the hollies, honeymoon suite, incubus, irakere, iron maiden (my work), ivan neville, jack bruce, james brown, jan hammer, jeff beck(!), jeff buckley, hendrix, john mayall's bluesbreakers (clapton!), john west, joni mitchell(!), jonny lang, kate bush(!), king crimson, king's x(!!), kinks, lacuna coil, larry graham/sly, led zep, level 42, linn county, little feat, little richard, the loading zone (bet you've never heard of them, lol), the mahavishnu orchestra, ministry, moby grape, montgomery gentry, moke, mumbo gumbo, muse, narada michael walden, nik kershaw(!), NIN, ohm, outkast, p-funk, piR² (marek raduli, wojtek pilichowski, tomek losowski),paul revere & the raiders, peter gabriel, procol harum, the rascals, rick springfield, roachford, robbie nevil, scritti politti, the sensational alex harvey band(!), shawn lane (quite possibly the best musican, ever!), skunk anansie, the small faces, smithereens, sons of champlin(!), the spencer davis group (winwood!), stanley clarke, stevie wonder, stone temple pilots, taj mahal, terry reid, thomas dolby, todd rundgren, tool, tori amos, tracy bonham, traffic, trapeze, the tubes, van halen, vanilla fudge, velvet revolver, the yardbirds, zz top... hmm, that wasn't sooo bad. many more deserve (!)s, virtually all, actually, but it was getting silly...some omissions are intentional, some due to burnout (beatles, zep, stones...) get the idea? ;-)

Movies:

not really a connoiseur, or even a major enthusiast. i know what i like. ;-) the obvious- lotr, harry potters, etc...nic roeg films, bournes, being there, the sixth sense, somewhere in time, bladerunner, city of angels, vanilla sky, michael, phenomenon, starman, the last starfighter, groundhog day, amazon women on the moon...off the top of my head- the list goes on. generally, something that feels, causes one to think, looks good and/or perhaps there is a twist...? i can watch most anything as long as it's not too stupid or embarassing. not into gore or zombies. i can't believe i only just saw 'eternal sunshine of the spotless mind'.

Television:

i don't let myself have big cable, so whatever is there when i feel like vegging... outer limits, twilight zone, mad tv. the west wing, joan of arcadia. leno, letterman, conan. i seem to be learning a fair bit about forensics and the law.;-). no reality, please. there's enough of that irl.

Books:

more mags/papers than books- electronic musician, keyboard, mix, tape op, LA times, comics!, street papers (weekly, et al)...books: what happy people know, the lazy man's guide to enlightenment (never got around to finishing it. ;-), the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, mastering the art of french cooking, the age of reason (sartre), nostradamus, music technology- a survivor's guide, the complete book of wall street ethics (it's blank ;-) ...

Heroes:

da vinci, ben franklin. jeff beck, steve winwood, bill champlin, the rev. billy g., george carlin, bill maher & jon stewart (well, not necessarily heroes, but damn good spokesmen), garry trudeau, huey from boondocks, opus, satchel pooch ;-) superman. mom.
